The Derby is getting close and the Derby points picture has only 3 point prep races remaining. Some on the list with enough points to make the Derby have decided against running. The most notable being Toast Of New York (100 points) and Asmar (40 points). Of the current list, there are quite a few who, if they run well in the upcoming preps...will enter the top 20. There's quite a few taking shots in the next two 170 point total Derby preps...The Arkansas Derby and The Blue Grass (synthetic), so the Derby field could change dramatically with 340 points up for grabs. Among the possible spoilers are Big Bazinga, Scotland, Asserting Bear, Casiguapo, Dance With Fate, Conquest Titan, Commissioner, Strong Mandate, Bayern, Ride On Curlin, Ami's Holiday, Coastline, Bobby's Kitten, Mr. Speaker and Danza. Re: Kentucky Derby Point Standings
According to a system I am trying out, here are your first 5 Derby finishers . . .
Candy Boy
Vinceremos
General A.Rod
Wildcat Red
Cairo Prince
This system worked really well for the Breeder's Cup.

Re: Kentucky Derby Point Standings
Add Medal Count to the possible list of bubble breakers:>) Dale Romans brings him back off only 8 days rest to possibly gain his Derby berth? Taking the same route as Dullahan did when he ran 3rd in the 2012 Derby. TJ
Re: Kentucky Derby Point Standings
Albano, #15 with 34 points has been withdrawn from Derby consideration. TJ
Re: Kentucky Derby Point Standings (Updated)
McLaughlin confident Cairo Prince will be in the Derby. Guess he knows the others who can knock him out, will pass on the Lexington? TJ

Re: Kentucky Derby Point Standings (Updated)
Just saw of DRF tweets that Dance With Fate, Chitu, Ring Weekend, and Midnight Hawk are possible outs. Midnight Hawk is going to the Illinois Derby (no points) this weekend.

Hi Cree,
Thanks for that info...didn't hear about Chitu, Ring Weekend or Midnight Hawk. If all 4 exit the Derby, it will change the whole race again:>) I've been concerned that Cairo Prince wouldn't get in and he really deserves a shot....with these possible outs, he's almost sure to be in the race. I think Linda Rice is sending her horse to the Illinois Derby also...the one you liked that was scratched out of the Wood? TJ
Re: Kentucky Derby Point Standings (Updated)
Kid Cruz. That's funny TJ because I just read earlier today (wish I could find a link) that Rice is point him to the Federico Tesio. So, perhaps they are thinking Preakness with him?

Hi Cree,
You are correct....they were headed to the 1/2 million dollar GR III Illinois Derby, but Linda just called an audible and will run in the $100,000 Tesio at Pimlico this Saturday. Smart move considering he's coming off an injury, the easier competition makes sense. I'll post the entries and past performances for you when they come out Wednesday. TJ
