A small but select group of 3YO's will face off at SA. Bolo and Prospect Park will try to make a race of it against the undefeated Dortmund. PP's will be posted as soon as they are out. TJ

Taking a shot with Bolo

Bolo
Dortmund
Cross the Line

Wasn't paying attention, but Cross the Line is a half brother to Ria Antonia. AND, he is also by Line of David - who has two very nice sophomore colts in Cross the Line and Firing Line.
I don't understand all the love for One Lucky Dane, I do not like his pedigree to stretch out.

Is this the worst field assembled for the SA derby ever?
Only thing that can beat Dortmund is the jockey Bolo to follow him home.

Hi Geo,
It's not that I don't like them....just thought I'd swing for the fences. One Lucky Dane beat Prospect Park by 9 the only time they met, then went to the BC Juvenile and ran OK....they wrote a race for him as a prep for this and he ran lights out, may be another nice horse for Baffert. Concerning Cross The Line, I like how Hollendorfer is bringing his horse into the race and he's not one to throw his horses to the wolves. He shows a nice race in his last beating Conquest Typhoon who ran second to Dubai Sky in the recent Spiral Stakes at Turfway...maybe the price horse, but it's just a flyer with some merit:>) TJ

Prospect Park becomes the Derby favorite this afternoon.

Dortmund looking more and more like the "freak" his Daddy was after every race he runs.
One Lucky Dane earned his ticket into the big dance with a decent placing.
Bolo nosed out Prospect Park for the show....

Dortmund didn't have much pressure, but looked pretty dominating out there.
NOW...American Pharoah vs. Dortmund... who crumbles under pressure first?

Hi Cree,
Baffert has three now....American Pharoah, Dortmund and One Lucky Dane. TJ

Judging from yesterday, I don't think One Lucky Dane is at the level of Dortmund or Pharoah. Yet?

Hi Cree,
I never meant to compare him to Baffert's big two....just said Baffert will have a 3 ply entry in the Derby running as separate betting interests...and all 3 have decent early speed. One Lucky Dane ran a very nice race attending Dormund's early pace throughout and held well off only one entry level Allowance race as a 3YO going into such a prestigious race. I just wish my 3rd choice won that 3 way photo for 3rd:>) We haven't had much opportunity at prices....so far it's been fairly formful on the win end anyway. It is a solid group of 3YO's this season and so far they have held up (sound-wise) better than other years. The Derby will be a great race to handicap...with just one more 100-40-20-10 point race to go next Saturday (the Arkansas Derby) and the wild card race on the same day (The Lexington) worth 10-4-2-1 points, we can start to get serious about narrowing down our Derby choices. I very much like this crop. I am having a hard time with deciding who I can see winning (there are too many). The Arkansas Derby will most likely add to my indecision.
I didn't think you were comparing One Lucky Dane to the "big 2", just thinking out loud that I don't think he's on the same wavelength of them (yet?). He is definitely a nice colt, but I feel (like Materiality) he is making big jumps this spring, and sometimes that gets to these young horses.
Baffert looks to have his gun fully loaded this year.
The favourites have been quite form-ful this spring. I cannot wait for the Derby, Preakness, Belmont, and so on.
