Far Right at 35-1? That's not a bad price.

Wednesday 4/22....Ocho Ocho Ocho worked 3/4's at SA out of the gate in a decent 1:13.60. There's a threat of rain this Saturday at CD....could mess with the scheduled breezes? TJ

Pletcher said both Materiality and Carpe Diem are definite Derby starters, they are the only two that currently have jockey's assigned. He is awaiting Stanford, Madefromlucky and Itsaknockout's final breeze before confirming their status and who will rider. TJ

Dale Romans suspects Pletcher will not run all 5 of his horses in the Derby. He will train Keen Ice as if he is a Derby starter. TJ

Workouts for Friday 4/24:
Stanford and Madefromlucky just breezed together....no time yet, but Madefromlucky doesn't look like he belongs, Stanford has looked better as well??
To be continued...gotta play some golf:>) TJ....PS, Pletcher to have a news conference at 9:30. Most likely will be about any defections from his 5 starters.
Continued....
Materiality and Itsaknockout went a 1/2 together in 47.4. Castellano on board Materiality while both galloped out 5/8ths in 1:01 and pulled up 3/4's in 1:14.2.
Stanford and Madefromlucky went together Stanford dominated throughout leaving Itsaknockout a length behind going a 1/2 in 48.1, galloped out a strong 5/8ths in 1:01 and pulled up 3/4's in 1:13.4...not to shabby. Madefromlucky unimpressive, was taken out of the run for the Roses.
Danzig Moon in company with Bolente went 1/2 mile in 48.4 galloped out a strong 5/8ths in 1:01.3 and pulled up 3/4's in 1:15.1
Far Right worked a 1/2 in 49.0 with an unimpressive gallop out of 1:03.2
Frammento, on the bubble worked a solid 1/2 at Keeneland in 48 flat galloped out in 1:02.2 while lugging in?
At Santa Anita:
Bolo worked a hard held 5/8ths in 59.60 under Rafael Bejarano for the first time. He finished strong.

American Pharoah is scheduled to breeze at CD Sunday....Mubtaahij is also scheduled to breeze over the weekend....two big one to look forward to. TJ

Madefromlucky out of the Derby, to the Peter Pan.
That leaves room for Keen Ice.

Hi Cree,
The way he looked today he'll be lucky to make the Peter Pan. TJ

Of the 5 Pletcher colts, he seemed the furthest behind at this point.

It doesn't sound like Far Right's work was inspiring either, but they are positive about his chances.

Hi Cree,
I think it was more then that....he didn't look very good in his work which prompted me to say that he didn't belong in the Derby. I'm thinking the outfit wasn't pleased with him prior to his work, as Pletcher announced early on, he'd wait till Saturday to decide if all will run. They do have enough time between now and the Peter Pan to do a tune up on him, if need be. Pletch always said he's a Belmont horse?
Far Right's connections seemed to be pleased with his work.....could be that's all they wanted out of him? TJ

I'm overwhelmed by the number of good horses. Even if I handicap by process of elimination, I'm still left with quite a few. So I will wait for the draw and see if that helps me out.

Saturday (4/25) Works:
Carpe Diem worked a 1/2 at Keeneland, starting slowly and progressively picked up the pace going 13 and 25, 48.2 out in 1:01 1/5, 1:14 4/5, and pulling up 7/8ths in 1:29 2/5. Very nice move accomplished the way Pletcher hoped, Johnny V was on board.

Tencendur working in company with Wake Up Malibu breezed a swift 5/8ths at CD, beating the expected rain going the distance in 1:00.07. Starting off quickly he went in splits of 11.86, 23.40, 35.29, 47.40 galloping out in 1:14.70.

International Star who didn't ship to CD due to the weather threat worked 4f in company with Nominative, at the Trackside Training Center in 50.80 fractions were 25.20, 37.60. 50.80 and galloped out 5/8ths in 1:06.20

Waiting on Keen Ice at CD and El Kabeir, who is expected to work in NY at 8:30. Also possible to stretch his legs this morning is Mubtaahij, who's assistant trainer had this to say in front of his anticipated breeze, “They are popping at the moment, really ready to go,” TJ
