Del Mar Futurity

Postby Bobster » Sun Sep 06, 2015 7:07 am

A contentious field of eight 2-year-olds will face off in the G1, $300,000 Del Mar Futurity to close the summer meet tomorrow. Here is my past performance and pedigree analysis of each horse, along with my selections.

Going 7/8ths today for the first time is a new ballgame for these babies. O'Neill sent a lesser 2YO up to Saratoga for the Hopeful (Ralis) and got the money today, Ralis was trounced by Swipe twice. Swipe also handled Mrazek the only time they met. The 7/8ths could help him upset Nyquist today...but it won't be easy. TJ

Looks like O'Neill is sitting pretty winning both GR 1 2YO stakes on the east (The Hopeful) and west coast. Looks like O'Neill might be right about Nyquist, at least for the time being. Though as the distance increases past 1 1/16th miles, he could be vulnerable. Below is the finish and the replay. TJ
