The GR II Rebel S.

Postby TJ » Wed Mar 16, 2016 1:31 pm

This Saturday's Rebel S. is the final 85 point Derby prep race. Next weekend it jumps to 170 points across the board, beginning with the LA Derby. In addition the distance of the remaining Derby prep races will increase to a mile and an eighth. Here's the entries (in post position order, not program numbers) and pp's. The pp's will update before Saturday, when program numbers will be entered in the pp's due to the Lukas and Asmussen entries. TJ

Give the Pope and the King of England a horse and in thirty days, they'll be stealing halters.

Here's the finish:
Cupid, very impressive today, took command and never looked back!
Whitmore ran a solid 2nd, looked to be running over Cupid, but Cupid had much in reserve.
Creator was 3rd
Cherry Wine finished 4th by a whisker over Suddenbreakingnews

Cupid looked like a running son of a gun out there. I was very impressed by him.
Suddenbreakingnews made his usual move, he was galloping strong at the end, but it looked like he had too much to do too late... and I don't think anyone was catching Cupid today.

I might also add that it might be time for Siding Spring to go back on the grass. :-)

Interesting to note Cupid's final time was 28/100ths faster than 4YO Upstart's Razorback this year. Last years winner, a horse named American Pharoah, ran 57/100ths slower than Race Day's Razorback Handicap. Something I like to look at when it's run the same day over the same track at the same distance and two races apart. TJ
