Top Travers Day Stakes Card

The under-card for this seasons Travers Stakes program brings together some of the best horses in the country. It just didn't seem fair to leave any of these races out. Of particular interest is the return of champion Lady Eli in race 12. Some noteworthy drop backs in distance include Carina Mia, who tries older as she drops back to 7/8ths in the Ballerina Stakes after she gave Songbird a go at 1 1/8th miles. Another 3YO dropping back in distance is Mohaymen in the Kings Bishop.
The hard knocking Flintshire attempts to defend his title and win the Sword Dancer as he did last year. He's been undefeated in America since Chad Brown took him over from Andre Fabre last August when he won the Sword Dancer. Chad Brown also reached his 1000 win milestone yesterday at Saratoga. All this great racing before we get to the main event...The Travers Stakes which drew a full field of 14 3YO's. Hi Aug.27...Guess Travers Day is the day you wait for at Saratoga, even got the date right this year:>) Limo Liberal might have a decent shot, I like that trainer, but lots of musical chairs with the riders in this race....if he isn't at least 10-1, I'll root for him, but just watch the race?
Geroux is a heck of a rider...might have to put him in the mix with Limo just in case, his mount was just a neck behind him last time and Geroux is an improvement today. TJ
