Picks for BC Saturday

Race 4 Juvn Fillies

5 Sweet Loretta (can handle the stretch out)
8 Dancing Rags (may be this good)
12 American Girl (home court advantage)

Race 5 F&M Turf

8 Lady Eli (is a stand out here, only fear may come from across the pond)
3 Seventh Heaven (could be tough with her best effort)

Race 6 Sprint

6 Lord Nelson (looks strong here)
2 Drefong (part of the Baffert one-two punch)
5 A.P. Indian (nothing wrong this year, must overcome ship)

Race 7 Turf Sprint

10 Ambitious Brew (a very fast prep race)
9 A Lot (can Chad work his magic out West)
5 Karar (French runner has a chance to upset)

Race 8 BC Juvn

6 Three Rules (might be this good)
5 Classic Empire (could be running late)
9 Practical Joke (last race says he belongs in this)

Race 9 BC Turf

10 Found (Arc winner returns to defend her win last year)
4 Flintshire (loves firm turf, better than last)

Race 10 BC Filly/Mare Sprint

2 Haveyougoneaway (looks best here)
3 Tara's Tango (local runner might make impact)

Race 11 BC Mile

8 Tepin (rebounds from last)
4 Miss Temple City (strong win last, can be there at the end)

Race 12 BC Classic

10 Arrogate
4 California Chrome

My heart says California Chrome but what's left of my brain says Arrogate's record run in the Travers cannot be ignored. This is a two horse race and Chrome has defeated 4 of these entries with ease, and in my opinion he has not been asked to give his all. If you look at the Travers, it is possible to believe that Arrogate could have run faster if asked, and that is a scary thought. A speed duel between these two could set it up for a closer, however I believe both of them have demonstrated that they can carry their speed over the distance. Just as a 3 year old running against older is my pick as the best bet of the day for Friday, I also think that this 3 year old, Arrogate, is the best bet of the day for Saturday.

Best of luck to all, and may they all have trouble free trips and return safely.

I'm obviously terrible at handicapping 2-year-old races! I didn't have any of the top 4 of the fillies, winner wasn't on my radar at all!

I was really rooting for Lady Eli, but she still ran great.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think V. Espinoza should have set Cal. Chrome down a bit earlier for the stretch drive. I thought he sat chilly just a bit too long.

Don't know if it would have really made much of a difference.

Regards,
Shergar
