Irish War Cry worked in company this morning (6/3), with Ascend (winner of the Henry S. Clark Stakes in his last race). They went 3/4's in 1:14 at Fair Hill Training Center. After this solid move, I'd expect Motion to announce his long awaited decision concerning Irish War Cry's Belmont Stakes status? TJ

As expected, Graham Motion announced Irish War Cry will try the Belmont Stakes provided he exits his work in good order? So this makes 12 confirmed to the Belmont Stakes with a possibility of some late comers with a week to go? Here's an article explaining why Motion was a bit hesitant to throw his hat in the ring. TJ

Shirreffs is having 2nd thoughts after circumstances forced him to work Gormley in Blinkers and without company this AM. BUT...if you ask his rider Victor Espinoza, he's ready to go:>) TJ

Hi George,
Thanks for the update....that's a sneaky trainer. He's having a good year and does run legitimate long shots in TC races (Commanding Curve, Golden Soul). I hope they fill the starting gate soon, I'm getting tired of editing the field info:>) TJ

Everywhere that I can see, there are 12 confirmed entrants for the Belmont, plus Gormley still possible, but not yet confirmed. I can't think of anyone else that could be added to the list.

Hi George,
Yes I agree the field should come from those 13...though that doesn't mean Wednesday morning we won't see a couple new horses who haven't been on the radar, show up in the entries. The way I look at it, Wednesday can't come soon enough:>) The early Belmont Stakes past performances couldn't keep up with all the changes....here's an incomplete list of pp's for the Belmont Stakes possibles (as well as horses who all ready withdrew from the race in there). Gormley has been confirmed to start in the Belmont Stakes: https://www.paulickreport.com/news/trip ... nt-stakes/
Wonder if there would be still any surprising entries. Doesn't look likely to me.

Under special Belmont Day entry conditions, the Belmont Stakes under card was draw yesterday. Of interest on the under card is the return of Songbird in the GR I Ogden Phipps (5th race). Here's a link to the early race entries this Saturday. http://www.equibase.com/premium/eqbHors ... -20170610D
Three races will be draw today: The Metropolitan, the Manhattan and the Belmont Stakes. Entries will close this morning at 9:30...but we will have to wait till after 12:00 PM before they draw the post positions in a ceremony at Rockefeller Center in NYC. Past Performances, official entries including post positions will be released some time thereafter and will be posted in a new thread when they are made available. TJ

Hi George,
Well ain't that a hit in the head. Funny how these things happen to show up at the last minute. There is no way that the abscess is on the verge of busting out shortly (as stated in the article) and there was no heat or indication of this prior to today. I'm glad this good horse will not run...it would have been his 4th race in less than two months and when compounded by all his problems getting to the TC races, he very well could have come up empty. Personally I think it's a blessing in disguise. TJ
