Here's the past performances for the Woodward...concerning the denial of an entry, I don't think I've ever heard of this happening at the discretion of the stewards? If this was a common practice, Dr. Fager would have won a couple more races:>) TJ

Any early bets (seeing how last weekend went) as to whether Gun Runner wins in style, or if there will be an upset?
Looks like Neolithic or Rally Cry could pull it off, if he has a not-so-stellar performance.

Rooting for the little red horse, Gun Runner takes them all the way!

Hi Skeenan,
I like the 2 you mention in this race...they both get tested for class and need a forward move, but it seems the pace could be a bit faster in this heat and Saratoga might stop another champ? TJ

Here's the finish of the Woodward Stakes:
Gun Runner...the pace was wicked fast and Gun Runner didn't care a little bit:>)
Rally Cry...2nd
Neolithic...3rd
War Cry...4th

Gun Runner!!! Wow... what a beast! The real deal... all class and professionalism.
(and thank you, Rally Cry, for grabbing second!)

And what about Voodoo Song? 4 wins at Saratoga this meet! I counted him in, but didn't think he'd win it. Set a track record too, I believe.

So, I read this Watchmaker article this morning, and although he has valid points, I would argue that Gun Runner's body of work has been overall better than Arrogate's to date this year. I do think Gun Runner has to beat Arrogate in the Classic. And, they both shipped to Dubai and ran hard, but Gun Runner has come back better than ever, and has beat the horses he was supposed to beat, while Arrogate has struggled. Thoughts?

My humble opinion is that there seems to be two distinct camps... those who stand by freakish performance, and those who look at the overall season. And not just this season, it's the same talk that went on the year AP was running.

I agree, I think it'll all be settled at the Breeders' Cup. I hope Gun Runner throws down and pulls it off!
