The Group 2 UAE Derby

Postby TJ » Thu Mar 29, 2018 6:16 am

The Dubai World Cup program is front and center this Saturday. On the card is the UAE Derby worth 100-40-20-10 points across the board. One American runner did make the trip, trainer Asmussen's Reride, who won the Mine That Bird Derby at Sunland Park. To see the entries click on the link below and go to race 4. There are two other links available to you above and to the right of the brown line. 'View Racecard' (currently active) will show each horses performance rating and 'View Form Guide' (not currently active). This link will show past performances and should be activated by race day? The Dubai World Cup (race 9) is going to be a good race with American runners West Coast, Gunnevera, Pavel, Mubtaahij and the super racemare Forever Unbridled set to go. Other American runner's include (race 1) Chad Brown's Economic Model, (race 3) Mike Maker's Run Time, (race 5) Pete Millers 3...Stormy Liberal, Richard's Boy, Conquest Tsunami and Mark Casse' Holding Gold. (race 6) Chad Summer's Mind Your Biscuits and Jorge Navarro's X Y Jet. TJ

Mendelssohn...Wow...this one is going to the Kentucky Derby, the 1/2 brother to Beholder was very impressive winning in hand and setting a track record!!
Rayya...3YO filly was a distant 2nd, but easily held the place over..
Reride...running 3rd
Gold Town...was 4th

I was going to log in this morning and remind everyone that Mendelssohn had already indicated that he could travel and perform well. Also, just as in the Bdrs Cup, his connections would not travel to Dubai without the knowledge of just how good he is. Only the best ones win all on their own by 18 and a half while setting a track record. My only regret is I did not include the filly on my exactas. I do not wish to put the hex on him, but if he goes to Kentucky I believe he will win. It is very hard to say that spending 3 million was worth every penny, but I believe he qualifies.

Quite an impressive win in the U.A.E. Derby. He certainly will be a live horse in the Derby.
