Hi Aug,
Thanks for posting the figures....some pretty lofty beyer numbers showing in these Derby preps. I don't know if you saw it, but they did compute a beyer speed figure for Mendelssohn's 3/31 UAE Derby win, he had the 2nd best beyer speed figure of all the prep races with a 106. TJ

This is very interesting. It shows if nothing else how all over the board these figures are. And it will be interesting to see after the fact whose figs are closer to relevant.

I think it is noteworthy that Justify's Santa Anita Derby was the second fastest Brisnet speed figure of the year, second only to Gun Runner's Pegasus.

Another thing of note: of Baffert's 25 most recent first time starter winners, only two won at 7f: Justify and McKinzie. All the others won at shorter distances ...
So, I suppose one could argue he has a good handle on which of his prospects are most likely best-suited to early success at longer distances.
