Hi Altanbarr,
That's the $64,000 question (for those of you not as old as me that was a popular TV quiz series when $64,000 was a lot of money:>)...But currently there are no plans for him to run back in three weeks. The horse is in a similar situation as Audible is right now. Audible is owned by the same connections as Justify and they have not made a decision about running in the Belmont Stakes...obviously so they won't scuttle their own ship:>) Ax Man, who we know is also trained by Baffert, could certainly create undue early pressure on Justify in the Belmont Stakes. So Baffert has a decision to make if Ax Man's connections press him to run in the Belmont Stakes? It's obvious the WinStar ownership group and Baffert wouldn't want to be responsible for getting Justify beaten in his TC attempt...so it is a tough decision to make with no upside? If either run it could surely hurt Justify's chances, if they don't run and Justify wins the TC it will cast doubt as to what might have been if they were entered. That being said, Ax Man is owned by different connections and if his owners want to run, they should certainly be allowed to. Really a messy situation and it will be a tough decision to make since both Audible and Ax Man seem to be very capable 3YO's. TJ

I know partial ownership is shared, but what about the other partners who may want to see their horse in the race? How does that play out?

Hi Cree,
The ownership listed for Audible and Justify is the same group, China Horse Club, Head of Plains Partners LLC, Starlight Racing and WinStar Farm. So I would imagine they would all be in agreement when making their final decision to run both or not to run. If there is any other ownership interests besides those listed, they would have a very minor share and no say in the horses race selection.
This does not hold true for Ax Man who has different ownership and certainly should be given the option to run if they want to. TJ

There is an article on the Horse Racing Nation, regarding betting on the Belmont Stakes. they have 16 horses to bet on, even some that are not being considered to run in race. Does that make any sense?

Hi George,
That's Wynn Race Book...it's like betting on the Derby possibles in the first early Derby pool...you get big odds, but many times the horse you bet never gets in the race. You still lose your money if the horse runs or not. The more horses they put in the "book" the more sucker money goes in on horses that will never be in the gate for the Belmont Stakes. Wynn does have Restoring Hope listed and he is now a possibility for the Belmont Stakes after owner Gary West expressed his interest to run to his trainer, Bob Baffert. TJ

Hi George,
Thanks...returning to the turf makes a lot of sense. Strong group of 3YO's on the dirt this season...going back to the turf opens a window to earn big bucks. Jack could be the king of the turf this season, especially since Mendelssohn is expected to run in the BC Classic on dirt. TJ

Justify, Ten Fold, Bravazo and Free Drop Billy are currently in training for the Belmont Stakes at Churchill Downs. CD opened a window over their main track for Belmont Stakes probables/possibles to train without the general population between 7:30-7:40AM. This AM the only one who took advantage of that window was Justify. It was his first trip to the track after 4 days off since the Preakness. He jogged with the pony and went on to gallop easy...but he wasn't so happy being under wraps as he frolicked and buck jumped trying to get a touch more freedom from his rider...but no dice:>) He looked pretty good watching him this AM...in this video much of the actual gallop was abbreviated, so you don't see him buck jumping...but if you watch close you can see a wicked flying lead change, very athletic for such a big horse. Hopefully they all will gallop during that window tomorrow AM and we can get some video's of all of them posted? TJ

Calumet could enter a 2nd starter to go along with Bravazo in the Belmont Stakes, his name is Bandua. TJ

Hi George,
Yes, will switch him to probables list. He is also listed in the Belmont Stakes past performance possibles. The link is found at the bottom of the top post if you'd like to take a look. TJ

Today 5/25 Justify and Bravazo took advantage of the time slot for probable Belmont Stakes runners. They both looked real good! Asmussen's runner, Ten Fold has been getting out earlier so we might not get to see him? Some horses get up and want out, so Asmussen knows what's best for his runners. I'm hoping to find one of his gallops post Preakness...will post when and if:>) TJ

Thank you TJ for all you do on these boards. I always look forward to reading your postings.
Also today it's being reported that Noble Indy may be entered to run in the Belmont Stakes:
