Well, to be more precise, just won France's "Polla de Potrillos" (Poule d'Essai des Poulains). (I hope it is the right spelling).

If the very talented European champion, MASTERCRAFTSMAN, ends up being officially re-labeled as a "gray" (instead of as a "chestnut", as this apparently graying-out equine now appears) he can then be added here.

See another thread on him posted here at:

There are two other gray fillies from Tapit's first crop that are now stake winners: Hightap and Malibu Beach.

Georgerz,

Thank you so much for your valuable 2 previous postings. Great!

--------

Oh my goodness, John Velazquez ran a brilliant pace-race, outsmarting all of his peers; except of course for Kent Desormeaux on Summer Bird.

See the replay and concentrate for a while on the horses who ended 2nd, 3rd and 4th.

Only the fact that Summer Bird (son of a Belmont Stakes winner) finished stronger prevented the gray Dunkirk (son of a miler) from achieving one of the most dramatic victories in Belmont Stakes history, that would have been comparable to Cordero's victory aboard Bold Forbes' Belmont.

But of course, Kent Desermeaux was SPECTACULAR!!!
