KING'S CROWN http://www.pedigreequery.com/kings+crown

This horse is completely black without a doubt but his black face
is adorned with a few sparse white hairs like the ones you will observe in
a newborn gray. Thats all, yet he was officially labeled as a dark bay
or brown. The more one see photos of these so called "dark bay or browns", the more one is convinced that the official "black" color is en-route to be phased out. In my opinion the description of this color needs to be re-defined.

We are going to have our black mare, Dixie Jet's papers corrected, as we have DNA arleady done for her, and we will have the other filly, Crown Land's changed as soon as we get her results back.

Sunday Silence,

How would you describe the availability of black Thoroughbreds
among the Thoroughbred breed during the last 3 or 4 decades?

Have you detected an increase in the number of black Thoroughbreds
or a decline?

Of course it seems that registries are less inclined to label questionable black Thoroughbreds as such, but putting aside that circumstance, have you detected an increase in the number of foalings of genuine black Thoroughbreds? I ask because I wonder if the prepotency of the Northern Dancers and Halos are having a negative effect on the appearance of black Thoroughbreds in general (this in spite the fact that the Halos ought to be more friendly to the appearance of black Thoroughbreds).

Since I know of your special interest in black Thoroughbreds (an interest that students of white Thoroughbreds also share since both seems to be co-related) I would like to read about your assesment.

Thanks in advance for sharing tyour comments.
