Sure, but what if she is bred to a dilute?
Well ... since the only dilute option is "palomino" then I guess her foal will be palomino no matter what colour it comes out!

Well I may not be worth much to the JC, but I pay registration fees like everyone else, they will hear my voice, and I will continue the battle to have them registered what their DNA states, that is only fair.

I just came across a new officially registered black Thoroughbred.
His name is SILVER NORTHERN (black c 2009).

He very recently arrived next to last in this year's (2012) Prix du Jockey Club. At first I thought he was a gray horse because his entire body was quite charcoal grayish with a typical graying tail at the end. But no, he has no inmediate gray parent(s) and is officially registered as a "black" colt.
For those of you in the search of black Thoroughbreds, enjoy this new case and future prospect sire.
