Ok, I was going to list one of my favorite AQHA mares up for sale, when I poked around her pedigree and found out that she has TWO EYED JACK in her pedigree. Her name is RHINSTONE CLOUD http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/rhinestone+cloud TWO EYED JACKS first 3 dams were champagne. Some line breeding of TB mare NORA M on TWO EYED JACKS' damside HARMON BAKER is quite interesting.
TRIANGLE TOOKIE - 1951 (is a clone of my palomino mare!)
(Clouds photo, not real good) http://www.reedhillfarm.net/aqhaapha.html
LADY HANCOCK - 1940 (on her sire side was KATIE WAWEKUS - 1888 a TB) http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/katie+wawekus
TRIANGLE LADY TEN - 1930 (sire side was from Morgans)

I think the strength of the champagne in this case is from the Morgans and the blank damside of TRIANGLE LADY TEN.
There are a good bit of TB's nearby though :?:  I think this may be a good mare to keep and breed to our champagne QH CHILLIN REVIEW. Comments Jorge?

Wow, dealing with champagne progenitors must be a headscratching dilemma  , before evolving into a headache  :x

Seems like we have to look first over here:
http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/burnett+riding+mare
but who knows if this is the whole truth for we all know that the term "champagne" may be hiding behind other coat color terms.
I don't claim to be a "connoisseur" but apparently the gene was first discovered among Tennessee walkers and Morgans. I hope that perhaps a champagne may pop up among Thoroughbreds just as the white color emerged among Thoroughbreds. My only hope is that simple observations may pinpoint and betray a TB case one day.

Can you provide more details on the TB angle of it?

The Dominant White mutations are on KIT. KIT is a gene that mutates VERY VERY regularly.

Champagne is NOT on KIT and is not on a gene that mutates regularly. It does not hide on any color like cream does. I have never seen one that could be mistaken for a "base color" and once you know what you are looking for, many are even hard to mistake for palominos/buckskins/smokey blacks.

It is VERY unlikely that you will ever find a champagne within the TB breed.

That Burnett riding mare has QH on it, BUT did it descend from Mustang, TB, Morgan.............it seems to be where records stopped
Whenever TB's showed up, all I could do is keep note if they were chestnut, but most didn't have a photo. It seems the records of TB's keep going back past QH's and better records were documented. Luckily the 3 above champagne's were mentioned, offered photos and they sure look 100% typical of champagne to me, although back then they were only called palomino and buckskin.

I like very much the photo of him located at the left of the sentence that reads: "These pictures were taken of Gunsmoke when he was 3 years old." Gorgeous picture and angle!

He looks like he would be a blast in spring or fall on some long camping trail rides, but kinda doubt they do that, since he would probably impregnate everything on the picket line

Gosh yes Jorge! Now her tail is certainly full of mixed color frequently found in champagnes, but at a quick glance , one could easily think deep
golden palomino with that off body color! I would love to have her color genetics if only she had the conformation to match her unique "radiance".
