Here is an updated slideshow of brindled horses including a couple of TBs and a couple with unknown pedigrees who might be TB.

There was a picture of the Arabian filly Rossletta that I've never seen before. Thank you for that!

Rossletta was a full sister to a stallion who made a huge mark upon the Arabian breed. Due to her odd color, the registry pulled her papers so she was never able to produce a registerable purebred foal. I always thought it was a shame she didn't get to produce on given the reputation her full brother managed to build.

The bloodline she is from is responsible for a lot of chestnuts with high white and body spots. I don't know if that goes hand in hand with the genetics that causes the brindling.

I am wondering in some way if my Puchi Trap mare is throwing the brindle gene on a consistent basis.

My 2004 mare - Faux Finish - was born with a small, darker coloured one inch strip around her withers. By the time she was a year old, it looked like this:

and now it wraps right around under her belly as it keep growing and expanding

The 2008 Nightlight filly started with a weird mark on her shoulder/wither area about a week ago. About half the size of the palm of your hand, bright shiny gold and in the same brindle patterning. I should have gotten a picture of it before she left yesterday, but now I am very curious to see if it expands and grows the same as FF's does, and with the smoky black colouring, if her brindling is going to end up a bright gold colour. I have never seen anything like it - its quite beautiful ... :)
