True black?

Postby Derby Lyn » Mon Oct 26, 2009 10:07 am

Is this mare a true black? What do you think?

There is a lot of brown shading on her muzzle and shoulder. It says there are no papers on her, so I can't look at the pedigree.

I gave her a second LONG look too Derby!! She's pretty.....but I think she's a really dark black bay.

I think she's black. The shoulder is roaned. The muzzle I'm iffy on, but my gut thinks black.

This mares registered name is "Lady Bernadette" and she is registered but I don't think as a black.

She sells without papers due to her "value".

The girl selling her bought the mare without papers and was apparently given the same reason.

She will also not sell to anyone interested in breeding her, what a shame!

Due to her value? I'm not sure what that means :?:

The girl selling her is under the impression that she is worth a mint and does not want her to be wasted as a brood mare!

she can't be registered under the name lady beernadette because both parents on that horse are chestnuts. I copy and pasted the name to make sure I didn't spell it wrong and still got the same horse. Is there a differnt spelling perhaps?

OK let me get this straight...Lady is so valuable that she is selling her for a bargain price that is NEGOTIABLE??? BUT NO PAPERS...so you can't breed her and make a buck or 2 off her foals???? THAT MAKES NO SENSE TO ME....if she's worth 10-20K in BETTER TIMES....why would she NOT BE WORTH 5ish???? and sell with her papers??? CAN'T you get them if you did buy her???? Mine came without them and I did a tattoo search and I GOT THEM...I did have to have a signed bill of sale...THAT one might be tricky....

EDIT TO ADD....I see that she DOESN'T have the papers either....so DOUBLE TRICKY...

She may have come from a rescue with the stipulation that she not be bred.

There are only two mares registed as Lady Bernadette. Both are chestnuts - or rather, were chestnuts. They'd be over 30 years old now.

I wonder how many people sell horses as *Thoroughbreds* but will not give papers. My question then becomes (if no tatoo) are they even really TB's?

I thoughts on this mares colour... she is a black. The owner sounds quite odd to think she is better than a broodmare, then her price is 1300. Something not quite right.

I sell quite a few fillies that I do not want to go as broodmares. And how do I do that... Price them as 15-25k as 2,3,4 year olds. Price them as show horses and show horse owners will come. Not many people are going to pay 25K for a 3 year old broodmare. ;) But a 3 year old h/j... sure!
