SPLASHEDWHITETB (chestnut splashed white with blue eyes!)

A Friend on Facebook brought this eciting colt to my attention!
I think the colt is in Australia, (not sure if he is TB) but if he is TB and was in the states, I think there would be a frenzy to try and purchase him, and try and breed some loud splashed TB's!

His chestnut sabino sire (Brave Hawk) carries color producing individuals in his pedigree such as Hyperion, Bend Or, Selene, Sickle.

Even more interesting to me is another son of Brave Hawk called (Alcon Bravo). His dam's sire (Prince Mito) was 1/2 Friesian!!

His dam: (Matabiro) is described as being sabino/splashed with Blue Eyes.

http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/matabiru unfortunately no photo of her

Here is the colt's photos: http://i45.tinypic.com/j8dw8p.jpg[/IMG]

So if Friesian is that far back in other countries, can the current foal be registered in the ASB? What about our JC? Interesting to me anyways......

He should be listed as a partbred. I don't know anywhere a part friesian can be registered as pure TB.

Is the photo SplashedwhiteTB? He's a cutie. Wish we could see his dam!

There is one just like him here in the US that very few people have shown much interest in sadly.

Ok, now I have the story straight. I have permission from Bernard a.k.a. Ben to share this with all of you until he is allowed to do so himself.

Yes. His dam appears to be homozygous splash..(if thats possible!).. Here are some photos from last year..

Thanks for that. Yes..Ben is also me.. Only ever been called Bernard about 3 times in my life!.. Fire away on the pedigree forum, i have applied about 3 weeks ago but they havent given me permission to join!!
Yes.. of course he is a pure tb, (someone on the forum mentioned he is part friesian)?
he is unnamed yet, since we are happy to allow his purschasers to name him..
The mare is back in foal.. this time to Tycoon Ruler.. who is homozygous black/brown.. we basically want to see what happens with that foal!

So Ben it is and shall be! :) Now when I go to all breed pedigree queery, it does state there is Fiesian on the damside of this colt which I just realized in NOT your colt which explains everything, http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/index.p ... _font=1&l=
This is another colt by your colt's sire, but that dam is not full TB. Ok, now I am straight! I will fix on The Color Corner too for you. Wonder why they are taking so long to get you going on there?

Thanks for that.. Also, I was hoping you may be able to post a question for me.. ?
Its in reference to the SB1 genetic test.
Basically, in the past we provided 20 samples to the unis in USA .. all from horses who were phenotypically very sabino.. (Including the all white mare "The Bride"..).. They all tested neg to the SB1 gene. So, i am very interested by the results a friend recently got when she bred a paint mare to Brave Hawk (who is also the sire of my boy).. Then she got the resulting filly tested and it came back SB1/SB1..(so basically homozygous sabino which means that one copy MUST have come from her Sire.. who is TB)). I am curious because according to the labs they still say NO tb has tested pos on their websites. I am interested to know if any members of that forum have/or are famliar with any other TB who has tested pos to SB1?

I will look up the threads about your question and the new KIT gene information. This will hopefully help clarify some of the confusion. It is definately a lot to study.

It would be a complete FIRST if a purebred Thoroughbred tested positive for Sabino1 and the University of Kentucky (and probably California) would be VERY interested in that for sure!

Looks that these are the immediate parents:

BRAVE HAWK (Sire) http://www.pedigreequery.com/brave+hawk
MATA BIRU (Dam) http://www.pedigreequery.com/mata+biru

we have put Mata Biru back in foal this year to Tycoon Ruler.. (who appears homozygous black/brown).. purely to see what colour we get.. and of course to breed a top racehorse!! :D

Looks like Brave Hawk deserves a thorough analysis.

As for "Alcon D Brava", an asterisk should be placed on the lower part of his maternal pedigree for there is a great mismatch in the years of birth.

Could you explain your last point please.. not sure if I understand?

ah.. sorry..
Alcon D brava is obviously a great example of how all breed pedigree can go very wrong if the person does not have the correct details !and is not a reliable source for pedigrees!!
