My New Baby

Postby Clover » Sun Apr 18, 2010 12:54 pm

My beautiful reg. black TB mare gave birth to a lovely little TB filly on 12th April at 3.20pm. She is now almost a week old and is a delight! Very friendly little baby and my mare is a superb mother.

Anyway here are the photos of her birth and the other 2 photos were taken the next morning.

Dam: Perfectlyrequested
Sire: Chet D T

She is super cute. I'm very happy with her and she is such a smart little soul. Needed no help to the milk bar and from the minute she was born she knew exactly what to do with her long legs.

yes, that are the little girls: faster than the boys to the milk-bar and faster to stand on their own legs :D

but the little girls have often their own head!!

a marvellous filly you have!!!

Thank you everyone. :)

I no longer foal down in my stalls anymore, I find it works better for me and the mares to foal them down in one of the field shelters. We put walls up on the opening side so that it is like a stall and then baby can meet the others in her moms herd before they all go back in together. This field shelter in particular is perfect as it is huge, has its own separate paddock which can be closed off from that main field. I keep the other mares out of this paddock for the first couple of days and then let them in with mom and baby in the field shelter so that I can gauge the reaction of how mom is going to react to their presence. Maybe not everyones way, but it works perfectly for us. :)

Here's another photo of the little one and her mommy back out with their herd again a few days later.

The look on the mare's face in the first photo is priceless. You can tell she's thinking, "hey, wait a minute..." :)

Lol! Yes that first photo is priceless.

TC - I hear you, I also totally adore this mare. She truly is the sweetest and most affectionate mare.
