So who has mares scanned infoal for next year?

Postby Truly » Wed Jun 30, 2010 8:52 am

I know everyone eagerly awaits for the babies to be born :)

I missed having any babies here this year but have enjoyed seeing everyones photo's :)

I tried Electrum last year when he was 2yo but he was too immature and wasn't ejaculating fully....he seems to have got the hang of it this year lol

I got my last two mares scanned today :)
so hopefully I will have four healthy Electrum babies next year.

Samba Beat by Efisio due 25th February (she's my little racemare so hopefully her baby will get to the track someday)
Money Box by Karinga Bay due 10th May,
Primitive Passion by Primitive Proposal due 18th May,
Sheezacista by Cisto due 19th May,
.....they have more NH and Eventing lines so hopefully their babies will go eventing :)

Who else has babies due next year?

I do, I do!!!

Officer Cherrie to Bernardini
Oilily VDL to Mirabeau
Adorable to Mirabeau
Platinum to Sato
Princess Vera to El Dorado

YAYAYAAA!!!! A whopping 5 for me next year and I am SOOO excited for all of them :D :D :D

This year I had 8 foals and have sold 7 horses already, which means I am only up 1 for 2010 ;) Still have another 6 months in 2010 to get back to a break even point which is where I would like to stay.

That's exciting news everyone :)

Madelyn, you will be exhausted on your foal watch!..do you have any help? or is it just you sitting up? Good luck :)

Accphotography..awww bless a filly :)..my vet asked if I wanted to know Samba Beat's foals sex? but call my a softie but I want a surprise lol

Blazing Colours that is good going that you've sold all but one of this years foals in these hard times! Well done you! I noticed you've opted for more warmblood crosses this year, I have noticed it's been more difficult to sell Dilute TB's over your side of the pond the last couple of years, so good business thinking me thinks :) PS Good to see El Dorado out competing :)

Actually I have sold two foals from the 2010 crop and 4 I am keeping for now, two of which will be sold next year at the TB yearling sales. So there are two more from the 2010 crop for sale.

The other horses I sold this year were 2yrs and older. I am working on two more sales right now that may or may not go through. It has been a great year so far for selling horses in 2010! As for TB's vs WB's... It seems to equal out each year for me.

And El Dorado is having a BLAST back in training! Glad you liked the pictures :)

Four mares bred and three confirmed in foal to Laura's Lucky Boy for 2011. The fourth was bred late, and is due for US this week. We're quite certain she has caught, as well. It's so nice dealing with a stallion that gets the job done right! :)

I debated doing it. I'm in an area that is covered by the vet that sorta created the fetal sexing procedure and has an unbelievable accuracy rate. I figure I can be surprised in the future, I won't always have this vet at my disposal. Besides it's helping me plan a bit. I also wanted to see the baby at this age on the US. It was great!

Oh my word! Lol

Congrats tho'

Do you have staff to help? I see your son helps alot.
Do your horses live out unless they're foaling? I know it's hotter down there.
Mine are in at night apart from some months in the Summer.
We've had an unusually snowy cold Winter and a dry hot Spring and Summer so far.
Our hay prices have rocketed and won't get any better as the hay just cut is half to what was produced last year.

So far we have:

American Iris in foal to Guaranteed Gold for a February 2011 foal
Kyrie D'Triomphe in foal to Guaranteed Gold for a May 2011 foal

Still waiting to check Pearlescent - we just finished breeding her on the 29th and Puchi Trap WAS in foal with twins, then lost both so we are hoping to start breeding her again by this weekend or before

I heard your hay situation wasnt great over there this year Truly ... that stinks ... :( ... you guys seem to go through that a lot dont you? We are just cutting second cut right now and its gorgeous. Probably the nicest batch of hay I have seen in a long time ... and funnily enough, to the east and north of us by 60-90 minutes, some people havent even gotten first cut off yet, so we are very very fortunate in our area that between the climate and the soil conditions, we can maximize everything perfectly ...

Wish it made financial sense to send some to you - we are going to have about 1000-1200 bales available in late July (2nd cut) and if we get 3rd cut off as well, another 2000 or so bales to sell then as well ...
