Pondering on the possibility of an eventual appaloosa Thoroughbred oddity, have you noticed that in addition to his broad white blaze, Preakness participant Will Take Charge is also sporting a very curious-looking white-sclera left eye?

Hey Jorge

I see exactly why you say that. However, it is also a very common trait associated with possible 'patn 'genes also,(as well as paint and pinto basics). The patn genes are those responsible for expression of the leopard gene (should it be present)...So he would be a good adition to a LP type horse

This short video clip..(just the first minute or two) show an example of how the lp gene colouring, can start to become visible from basically a solid looking foal to some colour starting after a few days.

Researchers are very interested in this later developing type of colour, and see it as being very helpful toward the isolation of the next genetic markers.

The people who posted this labeled it as

I haven't read about this Thoroughbred being considered
a genuine appaloosa but certainly this Japanese juvenile
sports a very sui-generis phenotype that makes one ponder
on that possibility.

A fellow researcher just shared with me the following
“equineline” officially-registered curious case named “OSTENTIOUS”.

He is also at “Del Mar Pedigree Database”: OSTENTIOUS (AUS) (bay or br h 2004) http://www.pedigreequery.com/ostentious (Northern Chateau out of Speedingly)

Note that he is registered at equineline as a bay or brown horse foaled in Australia
on November 06, 2004, with 2 unplaced starts. Here is his photo at facebook

This is really one of the last possible ways of introducing spots... along the same method as Heathers Tobiano really.
Horse is called Ostentious
Listed as a non TB in the TB studbook, (so entitled to race)..and maybe the 8 generation rule?

Weatherbys have stopped licensing non TB stallions in the NTR now as glad we got in before they changed the rules ! it happened in 2012

Please clarify. Per the NTR 2015 Conditions of Entry non-TB stallions are still NTR eligible - as produce of NTR mares and/or as sires of NTR foals.

If You had a stallion passported in anther stud book you can no longer have the stallion vetted and licensed as a V11 as a foundation sire so if I went out and bought a new spotty stallion that was registered and passported as a sports horse, I couldn't get it in the NTR

Yes you can still register stallions if they are by NTR stallions or NTR mares
