Thanks for the very appropiate correction.

Did a search on my own records and according to my paper "History and Development of White Thoroughbreds" you are correct. This was written based on my consultation with the cited world reknown source:

"This paint bay son of Blue Gazi out of Miss Joslin, by Reward Lloyd (male-line grandson of Hyperion) fashions all the signs of being a mutation to the paint frame overo gene. The signs are: an almost white face; a non-over-the-topline large jagged horizontal-patterned white splash and one or more dark-colored feet/legs. This description is quite different from that of its Paint Registry partner, the more common dominant paint-tobiano (T/T)/(T/t) gene, a color which is unrelated to the appearance of second version whites. The tobiano gene fashions common discreet-marked face; over-the-topline clean vertically arranged spots and almost always all-white feet/legs."

Sorry for the confusion, Angrovestud!

Hi belambi
Yes he could be registered as a foundation stallion if your rules allow and then put to TB mares then you have to keep crossing in a straight line to TBs we have a Homozygous Tobiano 7/8th as well but because he has not raced and not out of a TB we are no further foward other then the guarrentee of coloured offspring as the homozygous are not out of or by a TB lovely looking horse Brewed to Hot.

So.. (excuse me if I am missing the point!!).. does this mean that a TT in the studbook would never be possible?

It will but not for 8 generations of two different lines so if you have some time on your hands the 9 generation you would bring them together

ADMIRALS PONCA PATCHES

Not a TB, but here's a "crop out" TWH. Appaloosa markings in a breed not thought to carry appy patterns.

So.. after the first generation though (of the planned 8 ) .. does this mean that you could only use TT once?.. then every cross would have to be hetro tobi TB x a pure TB?

Right now, is there any Appaloosa-Thoroughbred strain waiting for the 9th consecutive Thoroughbred generation to occurr? At least let's identify the most advanced aspirant and his/her status.

hight tb percentage.. but incorrectly described. Cannot be a fewspot. 9since only one app parent.),, sad but excellent example of why grey is banned in app breeding programs outside of usa

It's possible hes NOT gray. Many Apps are incorrectly called fewspots or snow caps because they appear to be fewspots or snowcaps because of other modifying factors, that have NOTHING To do with being gray.

His dam is registered chestnut, not gray, FWIW.

Yes thats correct belambi you could only use it once then you have to go pure TB x Tobiano each time.otherwise your not ever goig to get in to the GSB it does not matter if you dont want to.

Thanks Angrovestud. That's a very important clarification. Hope there are some candidates, regardless of the generation (say 3rd generation  ).

No, he only has one parent. But him being called fewspot could have absolutely ZERO to do with being gray.

Its entirely possible for him to LOOK (read not BE) fewspot, or snow cap and not be, and also not be gray.
