My new mare is FINALLY home ...

Postby TrueColours » Sat Mar 19, 2011 6:36 pm

I never thought she'd FINALLY get here! :D

Meet Puchi Doll - by Puchilingui out of Batawa Lady by Exclusive Native. She and the Puchi Trap mare share the same sire line of Puchilingui and I am really thrilled I was able to add this pretty and unique mare to my broodmare band ...

I also knew better than to start ANY thread without pictures but this is as good as it will get for the time being. She is underweight, her feet are awful, and her coat isnt the greatest, so I need some time to get her looking decent before I will take any *proper* pictures of her.

She reminds me SO much of Puchi Trap in so many ways! The same expression on their faces, and almost the exact same way of dealing with things. Its funny - its like I have 2 of the same horse in the barn at times! She is a VERY unusual colour as well - literally she is "pink" and once she has been given a bubble bath I'll take some close up pictures of her. Ive never had a pink horse before! :)

She arrived late last night and has had her mane pulled today and been given a good "de-hairing". Poor mare was born on the farm and for 14 years has never left, so this must have been a pretty traumatic experience for her, but she has settled in beautifully and has really made herself at home ...

I am really looking forward to breeding her to Guaranteed Gold and seeing what characteristics hers and Puchi Trap's foals will both share. :)

You have to wait til she gets bathed and its too cold to do it today - even with the infra red heat lamps in the wash stall - its in the low 20's out there right now. Tomorrow is supposed to be better, so might be able to get her done then

She's a really nice mare - she is going to fit in perfectly around here! :D

And ... the latest news on Doll is that she has been sold ... which is very much a good news :) / :( bad news situation for me

Her new owner is thrilled to be getting her and has some wonderful plans for breeding her in the future. She will get bred to Guaranteed Gold now and will head to her new home once she is safely confirmed in foal. And as of today she is in a VERY strong heat, so today / tomorrow may well be the day for breeding her

I truly wanted to keep this mare for several foals at least, but in the last few weeks things have changed - a lot. I have taken on a new product line that looks like it will take off gangbusters

www.h2go-canada.com

and as well as the sales and deliveries I will be generating on it this year, the buyers for the major chains like Home Depot / Home Hardware / TSC Stores / Loblaws / etc will do their buying in the fall 2011 for Spring 2012 delivery. Pretty well right when foal watch will start, so I have decided that 2 mares to foal out - Puchi Trap, Pearlescent and Nightlight - and 3 foals to handle, market and sell, will be quite enough for me to manage. The breeding part will be easy. GG is so quick and easy to collect we can get him collected and semen on its way without impacting anything else, but its the foal watch, the foaling out and then selling 4 foals that concerned me the most. So - hence my decision to not go forward with keeping Puchi Doll myself ...

It was also very nice. I let 4 people know that I was going to be putting her up for sale, and I would love it if any one of them was interested in her and all 4 have come back now interested in her but of course the first one to respond got her ...

So - thats the scoop with Doll. Im sure in due course and once she is confirmed in foal, her new owner will start posting on here and will keep us updated with new pictures of her as well

And here's a new picture of her from last week - not the greatest due to the snow and overcast day at the time, but she is starting to look very very nice indeed ... :)

Thanks Darla - the "H2Go thingy" is a VERY cool product indeed! :D

Bred Doll this morning for the first time. She was a good girl and stood well. Now we'll see if we need to do her again on Tuesday or if she teases "out" ...

That is a cool product! I will have to talk to my brother who plants trees every spring at the back end of his property. He has a large 100 gallon tank on a trailer that he fills at the barn, but the tractor and trailer can't always get to some of the spots where he's planted the trees.

that new water system looks great, I'm sure you'll have plenty of people interested. It's a shame you sold Doll, but I understand. If there's too much work sometimes you have to do it. But she will be breeding so great!
