New purchase

Postby r3b3l » Tue Apr 12, 2011 9:34 am

This is our new mare, Dollar Princess, sired by Fantastic Light. She is 8 years old, raced 3 times here in 2007 (two second places, one third).

My boyfriend had seen her a few weeks ago and said she looked great. Unfortunately when I went to see her this Sunday, she was a bit injured! They have an old stallion there, he broke loose from his box and managed to jump into her paddock (the owner still figures out how he could do that, with the little strength he has, he hurt himself but was OK the next day)… so the horse bit her and kicked her until someone heard the noise and got him out.
So now she is all swollen, with bite marks and has an ugly cut on a leg…fortunately that just takes some time and she will recover and be looking fine again.

She has a high stocking, blaze and lip white so I’ll be covering her with Lorentz ( http://www.pedigreequery.com/forum/view ... hp?t=29810 ), and let’s see what happens ! I think that could be splash, but I’m not sure. what do you think?

What a lovely, beautiful mare! Poor girl getting beaten up like that ... :( ... but as you said she should heal up soon and be good as new once again

Sabino for sure and love seeing the sabino on bays as you usually see them mostly on chestnuts

All the very best with her!

Any indication that the old stallion managed to cover her? Mare coming into heat strikes me as a good reason for the old man to make the effort to visit.

Cute, cute mare. Look forward to seeing her all fixed up and healthy again! Sending speedy healing wishes your way!

I LOVE bay's with high stockings! And your mare has reminded me of a new mare I will likely be adding to my group this year. She is a bay with tall stockings! She is a TB and in the US right now. I will be switching it up for her and breeding her to my cremello WB stallion, Mirabeau. No TB foals for her here ;)

yes that is a powerful reason indeed xfactor ! They told me he didn't cover her, and even if he had, he is supposed to be sterile. But just in case I'll call the vet as soon as I have her home, so he makes an ultrasound and we can confirm that nothing happened.

Anyway she seemed to continue in heat the next day...calling for the stallion like mad :x The girl won't learn. So they moved her into a box inside the barn in case she decided to start jumping paddock fences herself. I'm taking her home on friday.

thank you very much for your wishes Blazing ! you must post photos of yours when you have her ;)

Dollar Princess is home ^^

the cut on her leg is healing quickly, it looks better than on Sunday although a bit swollen still, which is normal.... Anyway the vet will see her tomorrow.

And next week she will be meeting her new boyfriend

Hi again ! Last week we confirmed that she is not pregnant. So tomorrow she will have her first meeting with our stallion... today they were introduced... they make a very nice couple ! and with both carrying sabino, we have 80% chance of a sabino baby :)
