He sooo looks roan to me. Yet PQ has his as 'brown,' last time I checked, not even 'bay.'

Is there footage of that race? It has to be the ONE BC race I missed.

Accphotography has it right. He's a rabicano who happens to look very much like a genetic roan. Years ago, before we understood so much about genetics, he'd probably be called a roan (or even a gray).

A genetic roan would never have even a minimal coontail, however, and his is hardly that. I think it's called a "Gulastra plume".

That his dam is noted for being loudly marked and that other members of her family produce loudly marked horses makes it unlikely that he's a mutation.

There is a very revealing angle of LUCKY CHAPPY at frame 2:30/3:10 (actually from frame 2:30 to 2:35).

Whenever I think about HAPPY CHAPPY another horse already referenced here comes to my mind because the phenotype of this other horse is as strange and similar to HAPPY CHAPPY except that this one has a chestnut base. I am referring to the horse appearing
on page 6 under the name SHOWMETHEMOOLAH at the following thread:

http://www.pedigreequery.com/forum/view ... c&start=75

Let me try to post his photo below, but if not, please go to the aforementioned reference.
and see the photo (Hope someone may assist us here with the photo).

Showmethemoolah almost looks like an Appy with that "hip blanket"!

I remember that the pedigree of Showmethemoolah was available
here in the pedigree database. But today I was looking for his name
to make available his pedigree and cannot find it here, or at any other ordinary official source. Perehaps Lucy can assist us here and clarify why the absence.

CountRaja, Thanks for those quite interesting photos of LUCKY CHAPPY

As per "SHOW ME THE MOOLAH", (not "SHOWMETHEMOOLAH") "mystery" solved!

SHOW ME THE MOOLAH (Chestnut G 1997) by Cutlass Reality out of Sparkle Plenty Too, by Cari County, out of Heres Now, by Nanak
http://www.pedigreequery.com/show+me+the+moolah

Note under his pedigree:
Owner: Tom Billick, Joel Dashut, Lee Fjellman, et al,
Breeder: Carol A. Lingenfelter & Harris Farms Inc.
State Bred: CA
Winnings: 44 Starts: 8 - 6 - 11, $128,625

Born: March 28, 1997.
Sports lots of 'Bend Or' spots and rabicano characteristics in a pattern that is reminiscent of an appaloosa blanket.

CountRaja - when and where were those photos taken? Was that at Churchill Downs during Breeders' Cup week?
