Other Historic Front-running Gray achievers

What a great instance to watch the gutsy HANSEN set all the fractionals and ultimately win this year’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile at 8-1/2 furlongs. Wow, what a fantastic performance for many of us to remember!

While pondering on his feat, the name of other magnificent front-running "grays" who also won a top-notch classic event over a mile also came to my mind in immediate succession.

Thus, it occurred to me to ask from all of you to identify the name at least 10 gray Thoroughbreds [namely "G/G"; or "G/g" gene]
who won a top-notch classic event at 8 or more furlongs in which he or she clicked all the fractionals. Let's put on our thinking caps and name then.

Without much effort the following names and events came to my mind:

01. HANSEN -- 2011 Breeders' Cup Juvenile
02. HOLY BULL – 1994 Travers Stakes
03. WINNING COLORS – 1988 Kentucky Derby

I know that there are other probable cases, but I need to double check them.

FLY TILL DAWN and his San Juan Capistrano comes to mind. Most probably, SPECTACULAR BID did it in his masterful 1980 season.
Thanks in advance for your assistance on the latter two cases.

Thanks for your participation.

Black Tie Affair (Ire) Classic - 1991

It was a cold, miserable day weather wise... but his race and Arazi's Juve win made it so, so worthwhile.

Oh yes, absolutely! Thank you very much for refreshing BLACK TIE AFFAIR's Breeders Cup Classic extraordinary performance.

I am under the impression that at least a couple of front-running gray mares triumphed at their Breeders Cup event but need your assistance on identifying them because several gray mares have triumphed and I don't want to recall the wrong horse.

Apropos BLACK TIE AFFAIR, here is his masterful 1991 victory at the Breeders Cup Classic

Fortunately, I managed to find a few more cases.
See below:

(p.s. Hey this can be subject of another topic here
but looks like Gary Stevens can be considered a specialist
in winning front running grays. On the other end Mike Smith can be considered a specialist in winning late rushing grays.)

Add another one to the list: FREE HOUSE (gray H 1994). As a 5-year-old he achieved a front-running victory (among the defeated, Silver Charm) in the 1999 Santa Anita Handicap (fractionals: 23.56; 47.40; 1:11.46; 1:35.46; 2:00.67). See the race at:

San Luis Rey Stakes

FLY TILL DAWN, whose racing style was always to go to the front achieved at least a couple of top notch victories. I don't have at hand the evidence but very verty probable, he won the San Juan Capistrano and the San Luis Rey Stakes leading all the way. Let's see if someone assist us here. Until then read don't miss to read the following interesting article:
