New race mare black?

Postby Maureen » Thu Dec 08, 2011 1:45 pm

Picked up a new race mare today for the 2012 season, and although we had seen her on the track, never got a really close look. It would appear that she might actually be black. Will be DNA-ing her in the near future to see what we have!

No pictures yet as she is a bit on the thin side, and kind of 'winter'
rough-looking. Give us a couple of weeks of good feed, and a freeze, and we'll post some pics.

This would be her! As I said, we think she is black, but won't be entirely certain until the DNA is done.

Not entirely surprised with that pedigree. I think her sire is black and her grand-sire may have been.

Glad to hear that, ACC. I looked up the sire, and he does appear to be black, as well. Nice to hear someone agrees.

HH-will try to get a nice headshot to satisfy your curiosity! :)

Did you all have a look at what she's done so far at the track? We have high hopes for her 4 y.o. season. Not just a pretty colour, but a decent runner, too!

Thanks, Shirley. We wanted her this past season, but things did not work out as planned. But you know the old saying...'Good things come to those who wait'!

She could be the darkest brown I've ever seen, but I doubt it. I think black. :D
