Congratulations on your placing.. did he run again?

I live in the US and our racing is a bit different, I think, since we don't have National Hunt. The rider looks really big, compared to the ones here. Do you have a bigger weight allowance for the rider in National Hunt races?

Also, here in the US, horses who have won a race move out of the maiden category, so that non-winners only face non-winners or first time starters until they have won. Does the National Hunt racing not have a maiden class of racing?

Thanks, if you have time to answer, I am always looking to learn.

:D Thank you Madelyn we were due to run again last night but got balloted out ! but we will be back on a track soon, The weights are up to 11.5 stone for the race rummy was in, in a bumper of National Hunt flat race You can win three times then you have to move out, Bumpers are there to find out if a horse can stay before moving on to jumps either hurdles or chase, we have maiden races just like you guys for the flat, or very similar if I am wrong I stand corrected they run three times to get their rating handicap and if your over 75 you have to do harder races Trainers will try very hard to keep the ratings down. Rummy will run in one more bumper then hes hurdling in fact we are going to see him tomorrow and hopefully get some photos of him jumping so I am sure I will post one here. xx

Holy Cow. Well first of all we don't have National Hunt. The only equivalent racing I know of is in Virginia, I think, where they have meets that are steeplechase meets and also have some flat runs. 11.5 stone is 161 lbs!!!! So my thought was in line - Rummy carried a pretty large rider. One very rarely sees a horse here carry over 130 lbs, and maidens can run with 105.9 lbs if they have a bug rider. Here you are a maiden until you win. Period. Maidens can run in maiden races until they win, are ruled off or run out by age. We don't have any kind of handicap score to worry about.

Thanks for taking the time to respond!

I think this gives you a better idea the jockey is only small shes tiny but shes wearing back protection and they race with much longer stirrups so gives the impression of bigger i think, the horse will carry led to give it the weight
