White Bliss

They say this Standardbred foal is a one in 200,000 colt. I know nothing about this, yet one in 200,000 seems they are being generous with the odds of this all white foal being produced by two bay parents. Any comments from the experts on this forum as to it's rarity? TJ

I'd guess it is a new Dominant White Mutation.

Would be interesting to see if the little guy can race, and if so, might add a new color to the mostly bay/brown standardbred gene pool.

They get that from there being 200,000 (USTA) registered standardbreds born since the last new white mutation. (That one has produced 3 white foals but she is of course white!) So he is indeed 1 white out of 200,000 non white standardbreds born since 1998.
