In certain countries, like France, "grey" horses are more
prone to win certain important top-notch races than in
other countries of the world, like for example, in the US.

Notwithstanding, there is an exception: an American
Derby race where greys perform quite well.
I am referring to the Florida Derby.

Take look at the great number of greys who
have performed quite well at the Florida Derby.

Here is the list:

WINNERS:

1965 Native Charger
1979 Spectacular Bid
1993 Bull Inthe Heather
1994 Holy Bull
1996 Unbridled’s Song
2001 Monarchos
--------------------------------------

SECOND PLACE FINISHERS:

2009 Dunkirk
2004 Value Plus
1984 Dr Carter
1979 Lot O Gold
---------------------------------------

THIRD PLACE FINISHERS:

1996 Skip Away
1992 Pistols And Roses
1990 Run Turn
1984 Darn That Alarm

More on curious notes about the Florida Derby:

Angel Cordero who won a great number of important races and Derbies
during his brilliant racing career never won a Florida Derby, a race
which John Velasquez won in 2009.
