The first possibility that comes to my mind is that
we may be dealing here with a manifestation of a Chimeric
pattern, in which case I think that the following thread

Looks to me like there was a gene switched off/on very early in the formation of the embryo. Maybe as early as the first cell division. Also shows that the lobster has a very high degree of bi-lateral symmetry

Wonder if the lobster breeds true, or it is a reaction to some sort of chemical exposure?
