Lily goes to the breeding shed

Postby camohn » Tue Apr 15, 2014 2:28 pm

White Walterlily went to Camp Northview today (to be bred to Medallist). She had a 40 follicle yesterday, it was the same today so she will be staying there for a couple more days. It does indeed have on her stallion contract that she is white on the mare info form, but I didn't particularly warn them either. I was sorta curious what reaction I would get when she got off the trailer. The 2 ladies working in the barn thought she was just the cutest thing ever. They took her over to the stocks for a pre breeding palp and were happily fussing over her. Looks like she will be well taken care of there! When the vet rounded the corner I got the surprised look I was waiting for. He stopped short, his eyes kinda bugged out and said what is THAT? I said THAT is a white thoroughbred. So...I got my chuckle for the morning.

I remember when she was born! So glad you can carry on the bloodlines, can't wait to see the resulting foal.

How bizarre! I wonder if she'd test positive for W20 or one of the splash genes!

She is a Puchilingui descendant, I don't remember which W family that is. Her sire is my Avatar pic/ Bright White son. Her dam also exhibited traits: had low but pointy socks and had a belly spot.... Only visible if you were upside down brushing her belly!

W5, but it is being shown that W5 is unlikely to express as an all white horse like her without the presence of W20 as well. The W20 test is a limited run and only available through this month.

I recently heard about that one but thought the cutoff date was 4/15 and I had missed it.... But apparently it is until 4/30 so do still have time!

They pushed it forward hoping to get some more as they were trying to get 80 to get approval for the test to be run any time but they only had 15 earlier this month so they extended the date and made the financial aspect easier (now accept PayPal instead of only wire transfer).

Lol... Picked Lily up today. I asked for White Waterlily
. At first the guy looked baffled.. Then a voice from the barn called out "the one they call Ghost" and understanding dawned . The correct mare was produced.
