FS ran 2nd in King's Stand to Scenic Blast.

Fleeting Spirit took a tour of Newmarket race track first bearing out then bearing in sharply to cause interference with a bunch of horses. In the US she's DQ easily, under UK rules she stays in first.

Scenic Blast--no excuse. Looked wonderful going down to post.

Takeover Target-suffered career ending injury. Connections too broken up to comment next day. the stable one and only star won't run again.

Ante post favorite Conduit won the diamond as expected....beating audacious fighter Tartan Bearer in Macedonian style.

Interesting to see if Conduit would defend his BC Turf which he won last year after his success with St Leger earlier.

Like father like son. His father Dalakhani won the Arc and crowned European Horse Of The Year in 2003. Unfortunately
he was ousted from top 3 in the year's Emirate World Racing Championship (Champion : High Chaparral).

German bred Schiaparelli won the Goodwood Cup today. Easy win in the hands of Frankie Dettori for Godolphin.

This is another great victory for German breeding. Maybe Parlo can give more info?

Sorry, I just discovered Erins Isle's posting.

Well, I'm happy for Sheikh Mohammed that his significant investment in German bred horses in resent years shows some dividends.

Schiaparelli is a very tough horses - he is not a very elegant horse and his performances are not brilliant but workman-like, but if he takes command in a race, he will not give in.

In a certain way for me he is an "ancient horses" - a rebirth of those tough Cup-horse of the 19th century. So his victory in the "old" Goodwood Cup looks like a logical consequence in some way - but don't forget, he had the hightest rating of all contenders in that race before start and he already won good German G1-races over 12 f.

Btw. yesterday we saw a great race at Cologne - the Rheinland-Pokal (Rhineland-Cup), 12 f, Turf, going: good to firm on a hot and very sunny day:

Wiener Walzer, who won the German Derby last time out in July, beat his stablemate Getaway (who won a G1 in great style in Dusseldorf, 3 weeks ago) in a photo-finish some 2 lengths in front of Eastern Anthem (Lomitas - Kazzia by Zinaad = another "German" breeding), who was sent over from GB by Sheikh Mohammed.

Both horses took the lead just after the start of the race, Some 300 yards from home, Getaway passed Wiener Walzer, but the younger horse came back and had his head just in front at the post.

Their trainer said afterwards: it was just a matter of the going, a bit softer and Getaway wound have been the winner.

Well, this should be Getaway.

We in Germany fear to run a 3yo in the Arc - let them grow up. Look what happened to Kamsin a year ago - and now he still suffers from this unnessesary race at the end of a marvellous but strenuous 3yo-season.

German Derby winner Wiener Walzer bagged Rheinland-Pokal (Group 1), beating Getaway by a short neck...Eastern Anthem
finished another 2&1/2 length behind 3rd. This is the colt's 2nd G1 wins this season and 3rd overall...worth a closer watch.

Michal Kinane rode Sea The Stars to the colt's 4th G1 win this year..the Juddmonte International field only had 4 runners...by
beating Mastercraftsman, the St James Palace's hero, into 2nd with 1 length to space having been in 2 lengths deficit earlier.

This boy is on the fire !...more to come...a big one perhaps..Champion Stakes and or The Arc..but John Oxx will let the ground
condition to decide on his next move..a BC day trip is still on everyone's wish list....racing needs excitement, badly, very badly.

My feeling is Sea The Stars might not race against the group of european turf barons in BC turf : Irish Derby winner, Fame & Game
is stated as 9/4 favorite...reigning champion of this event, Conduit, is the 3-1 next favourite. Up and coming Gio Ponti, also a leading
home contender, is the close 3rd with 9/2. French raiders Stacelita and Vision D'Etat are 7-1 and 8-1 respectively. Dual Oaks winner
Sariska is 20-1...wonder if German talent Wiener Walzer will enter the race.

Difficult to call..Prefer Conduit..if his recent score in the 12f Queen & King Diamond presents a reliable credential.

Sea The Stars chance of running in (and winning) The Arc is high...if its trip to Santa Anita on Nov 7 is not going to happen anyway.

The 1, 2 finishers of German GI Rheinland Pokal are likely to meet in the most important international race Grosser Preis von Baden
in Germany on September 6.

Wiener Walzer beat stable mate Getaway by a nose in Pokal after a gamely duel btw the 2. WW is the reigning German Derby
winner. He has net 2G1 and 1G2 year to date.

With Sea The Stars excluded from the lineup for the 14f St Leger for 3YO..Kite Wood was made the top ante post favorite at 9/4.
This Galileo colt has won twice in G3 13F events this season. Next favored is Age Of Aquarius..another talented runner fathered
by Galileo..who ran 2nd to Calvaryman in the french G1 12F Grand Prix De Paris..3rd pick is Changingoftheguard, son of the
famed Montjeu, who won a 13f handicap race for 3yo+ and was beaten a head 2nd in the 14f G2 Heritage Handicap in a large
field of 19. 4th is Father Time..to be riden by Jamie Spencer..who won a 12f G2 event and crossed the line 3rd in another G2 of
like distance.

No thrills to many fans in this year's version.

Two main top grade events will set the track abraze in both Haydock and Leopardstown in that order this Saturday afternoon, 5 Sep.

Lured by its 4 for 4 this year, High Standing is tipped to win this year's 6f Sprint Cup..but I believe his supporting fans will
be disappointed
.
This 4 yo gelding did win all four at this distance, but except one which is graded (G3) the other 3 are handicap races. High Standing's
father High Yield has never won anything meaningful below 7f. Kieren Fallon will saddle High Standing..but this man is not a magician.

I will give respect to the 4 yo filly Fleeting Spirit which was a superstar in 5f meets before turning 4 yo to snatch the July Cup, beating
both Main Aim and J J The Jet Plane in style.

Champion Stakes in Ireland will be a battle of 3 kingdoms...the 1st three favorites come as the top chef's concoction..BUT I think the
4th choice Casual Conquest, the Hernando 4 yo boy which recently won the G2 10f Royal Whip has been too consistent to be ignored.
It will certainly stand tall in the gate alongside those talented 3 yo young punks...I will risk a little of money on him....value outsider.
