Homecoming Queen Distances 1000 Guineas Rivals

Postby Patuxet » Sun May 06, 2012 10:42 am

HOMECOMING QUEEN, a 25-1 longshot, led from start to finish to rout her rivals by nine lengths. The winning distance was the second biggest in 1,000 Guineas history and capped a remarkable weekend for trainer Aidan O'Brien, who won the 2,000 Guineas on Saturday with Camelot.

Winning jockey Ryan Moore was a replacement for Colm O'Donoghue who rode Daddy Long Legs in the KY Derby and didn't get back from Kentucky in time.

Homecoming Queen is by Holy Roman Emperor and is a 3/4 sister to Irish Derby and Arc winner Dylan Thomas. She raced in last year's BC Juvenile Fillies.
