Off at odds of 14-1 that would have been scarcely believable 12 months ago, Al Shaqab Racing’s Treve (Fr) (Motivator {GB}) once again turned Longchamp’s G1 Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe into a procession to become only the seventh horse to win the great race twice, and the first since Alleged in 1978.
Unlike last year when she was trapped outside, the bay--who had been winless in three starts in 2014-- was buried on the rail throughout and it was clear in early stretch that Thierry Jarnet’s only problem was when to let her fly. Striking the front passing the quarter pole, the filly who had looked a shadow of her former self when only fourth in the G1 Prix Vermeille over this track and trip last time Sept. 14 reproduced her renowned dynamism to put her rivals to the sword. At the line, with her rider saluting the crowd, she had produced a remarkable career finale with a comfortable two-length margin to spare over Flintshire (GB) (Dansili {GB}), with Taghrooda (GB) (Sea the Stars {Ire}) 1 1/4 lengths behind in third.
Also Ran: Kingston Hill (GB), Dolniya (Fr), Harp Star (Jpn), Prince Gibraltar (Fr), Just a Way (Jpn), Ruler of the World (Ire), Al Kazeem (GB), Avenir Certain (Fr), Siljan’s Saga (Fr), Tapestry (Ire), Gold Ship (Jpn), Chicquita (Ire), Spiritjim (Fr), Ectot (GB), Ivanhowe (Ger), Free Port Lux (GB), Montviron (Fr)

How the world can change, Treve remains in training. She goes for a third Arc!

That's an exciting sporting development! How novel to see an owner opt for sport instead of more immediate profit.

ARC - ENGLISH
English version of the 2014 Arc, with pre- and post-race commentary. Race starts at 7:21 on the tape. Treve was brilliant.

Loved the toughness of her trainer in insisting on putting Thierry Jarnet back on her. He knows this filly like no other.

Re: Treve Brilliant Again In Second Arc Win
Thanks for the link Delta, I love all the lead up to the race and the pomp afterwards over there. I was at Longchamp for the Arc that Rainbow Quest won, it was a true joy and felt like the races of old when I groomed or "strapped" stake horses in Australia. I cannot say that the racecaller was top notch but that didn't really detract from the video. Thanks again.

That was a nice field of fillies and she handled them with contempt.
I do like that she was kept to task but not pushed at the end.

Re: Treve Brilliant Again In Second Arc Win
Kimberley, trainer Criquette Head said that she is now a 100% but to win an Arc Treve has to be 200%. Of course Criquette was very content with this performance and she expected the mare will improve from this race, she needed this one.
