and wasn't he sold at auction for under 20k? He just so happen to show talent. Thats what made him a superstar. However, if he had little talent he would just have been thrown in the bucket with the other bottom claiming horses produced each year.

For every 1 Zenyatta, or SS, or John Henry we have HOW many lessthan stellar racehorses?

my 1 and only crop of racing age, 4 puppies all earned their AKC championships by their 2 year old year.. 1 female is a producer of champions already and the others (including the stud) were gelded and rehomed..

How are the cattle Griff? Still treating the horses like they were cattle too?

well done..

But that is not the norm for dog breeders and millions are turned out or put in a pound every year.. If everone would just stop breeding dogs this may not go away but it would help.

thank you.

as with horses education is key. Selecting the best to breed to the best to produce quality stock is something a breeder of any animal should be familiar with. Unfortunetly a large portion of dogs and cats are brought into this world because their owners are not smart enough to take proper care and spay/neuter their dogs/cats. With larger stock animals money and numbers play more of a role and cloud good judgement. I agree there is a problem that needs to be addressed with a surplus of numbers.

If there are incentives to breed there should be incentives to geld, re home, re train, etc.
