How to obtain papers from a tattoo number
Can you obtain papers from the jockey club by just having the tattoo number? Thank you
Yes, provided the originals were not turned into the Jockey Club. The letter at the beginning represents the year of birth, the rest is the balance of the registration number after decoding the year... if you call the Jockey Club, they will walk you through the process. I think first you will have to pay $35 to have the tattoo researched, then you get order forms for replacing your horse's papers, made out in the name of the horse. They used to charge $150 for replacement papers, it may have gone up. The sticky bit is the affidavit as to how the original papers were "lost".... good luck.
So Run for the Roses, as fast as you can.....
