My horse has an identity!!! Can you help me find out more?
I know I am asking a lot of you lately. But I finally found Rascal's identity. I got the email back from the JC today. His name is La Maquina. I am super excited and now that i have the name I want to find out as much as humanly possible about him. Since you were all so amazing and helpful and found out so many things I was wondering what you could find out now that you know who he is.

According to the database, La Maquina is a 1998 gelding by Tethra. He was stakes placed, too.
He's a PA bred. Source:

Hi, wow, pretty exciting to have the info:
I can add to it:
seven wins, eight seconds, six thirds from 48 starts. $85,258 earned
wins on these dates:
January 4, 2001 at Penn National
July 13, 2002 at Colonial Downs, VA
April 10, 2003 at Penn National
April 26, 2003 at Penn National
June 12, 2004 at Penn National
August 12, 2004 at Pimlico, MD
Sept. 3, 2005 at Penn National
If you have a choice about which photos to seek, I would try for the picture from his first win ever (in his first start, by the way), because he won by a long distance and would look impressive in the action shot. Also, the June 12, 2004 win should look good with him in front by daylight and unobstructed.
Contact the track photographers at the different tracks and expect to pay $20-25 per picture.
Oh, and the Colonial Downs win happened on grass, so that might be interesting to see in the photo.

I had the chance to speak with him breeder/trainer's daughter in law the other day. She said Rascal was liek the family pet and she was happy to hear he had such a good new home. She told me that they had him from birth through when he came off the track last year. He has never had a major injury and he only stopped racing because he wasn't making enough money to warrent keeping up the cost of his training. She did say he prefered to run on the turf over the dirt. She is looking for his old vet records and a win photo and then she is going to send it to me. I am very excited. It seems like all the pieces are coming together, he isn't a mystery anymore.
