I am trying to register my Friesian sporthorse colt and only have the name of his TB dam, the original owner does not have this mare any longer and forgot her registration number. I would like to include it on my colt's papers.

Her name is Beauty by A Tai. She is registered with the jockey club.

I really know nothing about the thoroughbred registration or the jockey club and do not want to have to set up accounts or register with a service for this one time need for a number.

I would think it would be pretty cool to know ANYTHING on this mare as I bought the colt after his mother was off the farm and no nothning on her.
I know quite a bit on the sire and would find it interesting to know something on the dam.

I guess she was raced?

Her last foal was by Waki Warrior, who is here in Indiana (we have a Waki filly ourselves)... do you know who owns the mare? Is it someone here in Indiana? If so, you can probably just call them and explain, I bet they'd give you the registration number off the papers. Are you in Indiana???

The internet never ceases to amaze me.
She was owned by a Vet in Hardinsburg, Indiana, he bred her to a Friesian stallion and then sold her after her colt was born. I bought her colt. I don't know who he sold her to, sometimes tracking horses is difficult so I started here. I appreciate your help though. I live in Tennessee. I bought the colt in Indiana.

She was born in 1983, she raced 4 years... 44 starts; 2 wins, 5 seconds, 4 thirds. She earned $12,705. She had 27 starts going short distance, with 2 wins, 2 seconds, 4 thirds. 16 of her starts were going distance; 3 seconds... so it would appear she was more of a sprinter than a router. She had 5 starts on an off track or in the mud/slop... she took a second one of those times out. The Dosage profile, etc. are explained in detail on a site somewhere... maybe someone else knows the link off the top of their head?

Tell you what... I know the people who stood Waki that year, I'll PM you their name and phone number... you can call them and go from there. Maybe they know who has the mare now, or at least who had her at the time she was bred to Waki... that might be a good place to start. I'll send you the PM right now. Good luck!

I called the jockey club and they will not give me that number and told me they do not give out registration numbers.
It looks like I am at a dead end. Ironically, I have found her track record, winnings, her foal list and her pedigree, which give me insight on her but does me no good as I still do not have the registration number. I have spent countless hours trying to locate her and she has seemingly slipped through the cracks.
It is unfortunate as my horse's papers must now read "grade Horse" for his mother because of this. While I know she is in fact registered. Her name once again Is Beauty by A Tai.

Can you read her lip tatoo? The letter corresponds to the year and there should be another 5 digits, all of these numbers compose her registration number (or at least that's what I've always been told).

Could apply for a duplicate set? It costs a nominal fee but it would preserve the ability to register your foal.

You can then click on any individual do see their 5 gen pedigree and thus go back to the origins of the thoroughbred breed/stud records as it traces through your horse's dam.

You can also get progeny reports by using the drop down menu under Reports. (At least I think you can get that without being a subscriber?)

The owners of waki are trying to locate an owner for me, keeping fingers crossed.

She also said the the state of Indiana has her registration number because every year she was bred they had to register her with the racing committee of Indiana. So she is going that route for me.

I don't know where the mare is to find out her tattoo. Or I would go that route.
