The "Faverdale colt" was a top 2yo in 1888. He was bred and owned by DD Withers and never named, according to this interesting source:
http://books.google.com/books?id=Q6vQAA ... 22&f=false
The newspapers at the time referred to him usually as "the Faverdale colt" or (misspelled) "the Favordale colt", even into his 4 yo year in which he did not race. I could not find one instance where he was mentioned by any name. (The source url above states that he remained unnamed unequivocally).
There are two entries in the pedigree database. Guidance?

He's entered under his dam ASB 6:52 as "Faverdale (Centaur)". The mangled entries in Simpson's Stakes & Major Handicap Winners & Their Dams suggest he was known by both names. His progeny were recorded under Faverdale, so that's how he should be entered in the db here. The duplicate entry as Centaur has been removed, and Faverdale has been remarked as aka:Centaur.
