Dear Lucy or Rouge:

Someone removed the race record and photo of Damascus. They even took away his "Black Type." Though I noticed someone did make him black type horse again.

Sweeper, a 1909 H. Is not listed as a black type horse. I believe he won the 2000 Guineas?

Same with Bachelors Button a 1899 H. I'm sure he won several stakes in GB.

Both show up in the database as with that Bold type Blue lettering.

Both horse are locked up, so I can't do anything about it.

Thanks for your help
Shergar

The horse is locked and still being messed with??? Maybe it's a glitch. I definitely have to defer to Lucy on this one.

It is a glitch - one that erases all extra info. Not even the locks can prevent it, unfortunately. All I can do is fix them as they pop up.

I'll get these guys fixed shortly....let me know if you come across any others.

Lucy or Rouge:

You can add Invasor and Majiden to the list of black type horses that have information erased and not showing as bt in database.

Ok here is a puzzler for you.

Dr. Dino (The 2002 Colt by Muhtathir) is in the stakes database as placing 2nd in the 1967 Primio Certosa, and running 3rd the next year.

Sub Rose (2005 F. by Galileo) is listed as running 3rd in the 1967 running of the aforementioned race.

Vision D'Etat (2005 C. by Chichicastenango??) Is winning the 1967/68 running of the Primio Certosa!!

Another glitch, or someone messing around again

Thanks,
Shergar

No, this is definitely a human at work. Someone's made a total mess of the Italian race results.

Unfortunately, my resources for Italian racing are very limited, so I can rarely fix the results - I can only remove those that I know are wrong, which is what I have done here.

Lucy:

I noticed on bloodlines.net website they have some historic race results for several of the major Italian races. I am assuming their data is correct?
When I get a chance, I will cross-check this database with bloodlines.

BTW Add Elusive Quality to the list of horses thatr have lost their black type and information

Duh! I don't know why I didn't think to look there. I work on their US race lists, so they were right under my nose.

Anyway, the facts there are usually pretty accurate, but I'll find out how recently they were updated, just to be sure. :)

I'll fix EQ later tonight. Thanks.

Press reports make that sort of mistake with alarming regularity. It's always safer to double-check against a studbook when working from articles or journals.

In a perfect world, we'd be able to search by alternate names/spellings, but that's not possible the way this database is currently programmed.

Lucy, if you need to check something Italian, I bought a book called Italian Produce Records 1958-1992 at THE second-hand book store in a village near Newmarket. It has produce records like those in Meres de Gagnants in one volume, and results of all black-type races along with stallion lists in the second volume. e-mail me if you need anything in that range.
