Brood mare prospect

Postby jessicacot » Sat Apr 16, 2005 3:38 pm

Just got a prospective brood mare. Any ideas for stallions within 6 hours driving time from Maine? Mare is OKatie (by Grub out of Swinging Action)?
Thanks. :D

Hi Jessica,

Grub is best know as the damsire of the recent Dubai Golden Shaheen ($2 Million Purse) Winner Saratoga County, who is by Valid Expectations.

The Relaunch line might be good because of In Reality crossing with Grub in Saratoga County and Relaunch liking returns of the Mahmoud / Equipoise cross found Swing Till Dawn (see Tiznow, who actually came from the Swing Till Dawn line).

I can't think of anything with him in New York or New England that I like much though.

Judge T. C. is in New York for $8,500 and an advantage with him is that he brings in In Reality and Secretariat, who traces to the same female family of Grub. Also, the Judge brings in Never Bend's half-brother Bold Reason, who crosses quite good with him.

What I don't like so much though is that Judge T. C. doesn't seem to intergrate the sire and damside of this mare very well as all the good points I've noticed so far relate to Grub and not the dam.

llbean - thanks for that info. I think I've talked with you before (last year). I have the mare Invincible Spirit whom I bred to Obligato. She unfortunately lost that foal (5 days old) and we are now trying to breed her to Catienus. I just wanted to thank you for your help back then.

OKatie's last foal (last year) was by Pappy's Halo. What do you think about that cross???
Thanks.
