I have an 18 year old TB mare currently in foal to a warmblood. After researching her lines I realized she has some impressive genes.
I would like some advice. I know the TB industry is not fond of older broodmares, especially unproven but with lines like hers is it worth a try?
If so what stud in CA would you recommend? Her Dad was second in the Kentuckt Derby (Rumbo)....she has Bull Lea top and bottom...Man O War...Citation
I have been breeding for sport horses so I know very little about the Racing/TB industry.

Not really. Those "impressive" genes are so far back that a LOT of throughbreds have them and they don't mean all that much.
At least she has more page than the last two mares.
I'm going to assume you're breeding to race. Don't spend anymore than about $2500 on a stud fee and keep your expectations low (meaning, don't think you're going to breed a stakes winner .. aim for a nice mid level allowance horse).
Handful of suggestions...
Daeling Farm USED to have a Phone Trick stallion named Boomerang .. he's not on their page anymore, but you might call them to find out where he went.

Not quite, Greg. Prized is the only of Kris S.' major sons to have even SEEN a Rumbo mare and yes, he got a restricted stake placed horse. However one does not a good sample make. I don't know about the rest of the Robertos, but my instincts tell me there aren't many Dynaformers/Repriced foals out of Rumbo mares either and I know there are no stakes winners.
Thanks for the input. I will certainly take that into consideration. She is getting a little long in the tooth so if I want to try I had better do it soon.
I had been thinking about breeding for a racer for a while but it seems like there is a lot to learn about the racing industry.
She is built just like Rumbo and she is still full of fire. Perhaps I will look into the Stallion suggested and talk to a few of my friends in the business.
Thanks Again
Lisa

Jordon, until you spend a little more time learning about pedigrees and why you do some matings and why you don't do others, you need to stop recommending these same two horses every time someone asks for advice. You cannot breed every mare in the world to the same stallion. You need to stop pimping these two stallions and just read the board. You might actually start to learn something.
