Mating Advice -- Boomtown Beauty

Postby JaradM » Tue Sep 12, 2006 3:37 pm

Looking for mating advice for Boomtown Beauty, she is a stakes placed winner and also produced a baby that made over 100K. Any ideas for Louisiana stallions would be appreciated. We are undecided if we will run or sell the foal.

her 100K progeny was by Alphabet Soup.

Since you were pleased with Mustang Jock why not look at his Cozzene sire. Forget the name but Larry can pobably assist with that.

I also like Afternoon Deelite, but I would probably try the Cozzene line again first.

JaradM, JonR is right. Go take a look at my other stallion, COUNTER PUNCH by Cozzene o/o a G3 producing daughter of Storm Cat. 2nd dam is G2 Cuddles by Mr. Prospector. I bought COUNTER PUNCH directly from Overbrook Farms. Several pedigree gurus have looked at his pedigree and think he should make a fine sire. PUNCH has a great disposition and is very correct. I personally am going to buy and breed several mares to him next year. He's not as pretty as JOCK but how many stallions are as good looking as JOCK?? PUNCH I believe has the pedigree to throw some very good runners and there are no other sons of Cozzene standing in Louisiana that I know of. I think the combination of Cozzene and Storm Cat could get a very good dirt and/or grass horse. He will stand next year for $750. That's a real bargain in my opinion!! Hope you will give him a serious look.

Thanks
Larrygene

Since you are breeding to sell, and want to stay in LA, I would think that there are not as many choices. One interesting one might be Erlton. His sale numbers are actually pretty good for a stallion that stands for only $1500. He seems to cross okay with your mare, as there is no additional Raise a Native introduced. Worth checking. Good luck

What sale are you thinking of sending her to?

We will be sending her to My Friend Max by Danzig. He had three stakes horses run on Louisiana Champions day a few weeks ago at Delta. Two of them won (Brother Bean & My Friend Bele) and the other (Mean Butterbean) ran second to Costa Rising. For 2006 he had 56% winners and averaged $27,000 a starter. His owners are particular about the mares he is breed to and luckily they have accepted our mare.

Derring - The foal will most likely be sold at the Shreveport Oct. Yearling Sale.

if you wanted to cross the border into Texas, you may want to take a look at Special Rate. His first few foals have just hit the ground and they all look the part. This is a very good cross, one that Openheim has been all over.
