Pedigree Query

Hello all,
I have recently bought a new mare who I intend to breed in 2008. It is my first broodmare so I'd like some advice picking out a stud.

Her name is Sweet Maria by Langfuhr out of Marienburg. I intend to sell the foal at the yearling sale here in Ontario.

She will be 8 years old. On here first breeding a few years ago she required a c-section which resulted in a dead foal. She has just been examined by a vet and checked out in good health with minimal scarring from the c-section. He gave me the okay to breed her, but advised me to try to find a smaller stallion (under 16hh) to reduce the risk of foaling problems considering her past.

I would like to find an Ontario based stallion under $5000.00, under 16hh.

Like I said, I'm very new with this, but I will assume the best route to go (considering she is going to be 8 years old with no foals) is to breed to a proven stallion. These are the stallions that I liked the best that fit the bill for what I am looking for, however I don't know much about finding a good cross. Any advice?

Does anyone have any adivce for good crosses?

Of those, pedigree wise I like her with Wake at Noon. I don't know enough about the Canadian market to comment on the commercial aspect of breeding that mare.

On stallion marketability... IMO

Wake at Noon - stud fee $5000, his first crop are two year olds. He only had one yearling to sell at CTHS ONT for $15,000 (the other two were RNA's). I like him.

Trajectory - stud fee $7500, he has three crops to race and has been successful thus far. His yearlings have also been very popular at the sale. His select yearlings averaged $44, 000 in '06. I like him.

A Fleets Dancer - recently deceased

Perigee Moon - stud fee $5000, he has three crops to race and has also been successful thus far. His select yearlings averaged $37,500.

Strut the Stage - stud fee $5000. I love his female family and he is *very* correct. The only negative to me is Theatrical as a sire of sires.

In Franks Honor - stud fee $4500. He raced until he was eight and is just standing his first season now at age eleven? If you are breeding to sell I might worry about the commercial factor. Not sure how many mares he has covered though I doubt he has covered many.

Dance to Destiny - stud fee $5000. His yearlings will sell this fall. I am curious to see what they look like. I think he will be commercial providing they look good. Hopefully he will have more success then his half brother did in Ontario.
