I have 2 mares that I have gotten in the last year, and would appreciate some advice for their next matings. I planned their 2007 matings, (with good advice) but I know the more I ask and understand hopefully I will be putting more thought and info into it this next time. The mares are in California and I am breeding to race.
1. Electric Chair (Unusual Heat/Chairwoman, by Corporate Report). She has an Event of the Year foal and is in foal to Decarchy. I want to go to an established sire for this next breeding. I am considering Formal Gold, Old Topper, Cee's Tizzy, and possibly Perfect Mandate.
2. Hillwalker (Skywalker/Flying Hill, by Flying Paster). She is older (17) and is in foal to Sea of Secrets. I also want an established sire for her. I like Roar, Formal Gold, Lit de Justice, and also possibly Perfect Mandate. Not quite sure about Perfect Mandate, he has stats that are either way good or way bad. I know he had a couple of problems for 2 breeding seasons, so perhaps that is the reason for his odd stats.
Thanks for any advice you might throw my way. I have been looking at stallions that fit the mares, but very importantly have high percentage of starters/winners to foals.
advice for 2008

I didn't really have a top figure that was in the way. My trainer didn't think In Excess matched up well with Electric Chair's personality, and Bertrando doesn't fit with Hillwalker, and those two are the two biggies in CA as far as stud fees. Except of course Unusual Heat, but obviously I wasn't going to go there.
I personally really like Electric Chair with Siberian Summer. He's an extremely solid stallion who can get a big horse. They run on dirt and turf and seem to have enough speed to be competitive at the shorter distances, but really love to stretch out.
He's proven, cheap, and I think will be a really nice broodmare sire if you have the bottomside to back him.
The cross with Electric Chair will give you Tom Rolfe 4x4 through two daughters, and 4x5 Nearctic through Icecapade and Northern Dancer. If you got a filly, she would be easy to breed with this pedigree.
When it comes to Hillwalker, I like her best with Swiss Yodeler. I like the Bold Ruler inbreeding and it should give you a versatile and fast foal. A cross with Salt Lake wouldn't be horrible either.

Don't be so humble - you are not that great.
The two California stallions I like best are Benchmark & Tribal Rule. TR was very fast & has a G1 winner as of yesterday with Georgie Boy in the Del Mar Futurity. At first glance I like him best with your older mare as he has a couple of stakes winners out of Bertrando mares & when his dam was bred to Flying Paster she produced G1 winner Key Phrase who in turn produced the fastest Storm Cat runner to date in Yankee Gentleman who of course stands at Airdrie & has 2 year olds of this year. The success with Benchmark & Bertrando mares is very well known I'm sure with Idiot Proof this year amoung many others. Silent Sighs was as nice a filly as I have seen in the last few years. With your Unusual Heat mare I dont really see anything at first glance that makes me think either of theses stallions but then again I see nothing to say why not as long as they are of decent phyical matchups as well.
