Hello everyone!
I recently did some "horse-website trading" for the mare Sweep Honor (Highest Honor x Sweep On by Sharpen Up). She is stakes placed in France and she has produced 3 winners (by Senor Speedy, Louis Quatorze and Out of Place). Since I am in the black hole of horse racing in the Dakotas, I have no idea who to breed her to out here! Any ideas on stallions in the <$5000 range that might be a good fit? Thanks!
I have a Highest Honor mare in South Dakota--what to do?

The closest turf the foal would see would be at Canterbury in MN!
The mare stands a shade under 16 hands and has the look of a rangy Arab...very correct, lean muscled with a pretty head!
I have seen her 06 and 07 foals by Finn McCool (Meadowlake x Joying by Storm Cat)...he's a big, muscular horse himself...both foals looked a lot like their mother with a bit power. Her filly by Out of Place is "technically" stakes placed in small stakes in Canada and the rest seemed to take a LOT of maturing to get going (wins at 4,5, etc!)...so it would seem I should be on the look-out for precocity!

Crafty Ridan
I just have to ask...why Crafty Ridan in particular?
First, Crafty Prospector threw soundness, over 80% of his foals raced, many for a long time. Very important for a breed to race horse. If they don't run, you're really behind the eight ball.
Second, CP had success with many different bloodlines.
Hypo mating:

An example of a CP mare with Riverman would be Miss Golden Circle:

Amarillo has Round Table and returned Nasrullah

Also for example look at this pedigree, CP made stakes horses from all families:

And finally, Kimberley Mine has made some interesting posts about combining the sons of Plucky Liege in a pedigree. This pedigree would combine four sons plus a daughter. Crafty Prospector as a general rule liked the return of Native Dancer and/or Nasrullah. With the list from SD, that's how I arrived.
Kimberley Mine's comments:
I personally don't think it's Hail to Reason and Buckpasser on their own so much as that cross loads up on the blue hen Plucky Liege.
Hail to Reason carries Plucky Liege through Admiral Drake (Turn-To) and Sir Gallahad (Nothirdchance). Buckpasser carries Plucky Liege through Bull Dog (via Tom Fool). When adding the "missing brother," the results are quite useful. If you can find the comparatively rare fourth brother Bois Roussel, the results are even better.
Take Arch as an example. He is a modern Hail to Reason horse, carrying 1 strain of Admiral Drake and 1 strain of Sir Gallahad via Hail to Reason and two extra strains of Sir Gallahad via Alydar. Of his four championship contender offspring, the dams add the following:
Arravale: no Buckpasser, one cross each of Bois Roussel (via Kaladoun) and Sir Gallahad.
Les Arcs: Bois Roussel (via Gallant Man), one strain of Bull Dog
Overarching: one strain each Bull Dog and Sir Gallahad
Pine Island: 2 strains of Bull Dog via Nijinsky and Buckpasser, Sir Gallahad and Admiral Drake via Hail to Reason (linebred), and an extra strain of Sir Gallahad
It would be very easy to argue that Buckpasser made for Arch's bests offspring to date, except that I don't believe that Pine Island is Arch's best offspring. I would put Arravale ahead of her, and also Overarching based on the fact that she ran in the best South African company (which, based on Dubai results, can be very good indeed) AND defeated colts more than once. Pine Island never won outside of her division. More to the point, even without Bull Dog via Tom Fool, Pine Island carried 4 extra crosses to Plucky Liege.
On to Southern Halo. He has one cross each of Admiral Drake, Sir Gallahad, and Bull Dog. Here are some of the dams of some of his best non-Japanese runners:
Dubleo has no Buckpasser, but three additional crosses to Bull Dog.
Gr-1 winner Sebi Halo has no Buckpasser, one cross to Bull Dog via Tom Fool, and a direct daughter strain of Bois Roussel via his damsire Ringaro.
Multiple Gr-1 winner El Compinche has a cross to Bull Dog, a cross to Bois Roussel, and a cross to Sir Gallahad.
Halo Cat has four crosses to Bull Dog and two crosses to Sir Gallahad via Carson City and an extra cross to Sir Gallahad via his dam.
His best filly, Miss Linda, is unique in that she has no extra Plucky Liege at ALL...but she has a TON of Son-In-Law breeding. Might be something going on there but I'm not going to look at the moment.
More Than Ready has Buckpasser via Woodman--and he also has an extra cross to Sir Gallahad via Nashua, a cross to Bull Dog via Miss Dogwood, Sir Gallahad via Swaps, and Admiral Drake via Turn-To. Like Pine Island, he has a Buckpasser cross, but even without Buckpasser he'd be loaded with Plucky Liege.
