Pedigree Query

There is a good thread on mares starting up, but I don't know enough about Kentucky stallions to chime in there and I've had this on my mine for a while.
I hope we can look at racing styles, distance, conformation, pedigree and any other factor that can be considered. Thanks for your input.

I would say first & foremost mares with speed. Curlin can lay fairly close routing but he just kinda grinds the race out so I would think adding speed would be a given. He has ample size so that should be a non issue. He does have a nice hip again breed for more speed. I cant comment on his front end. Pedigree wise he is your classic Mr P over ND so I would think Seattle Slew-Bold Ruler line mares would be the next logical step to consider. In just knowing what I know that would be my first general thoughts.

I almost forgot that I had ask this question. Thanks for your reply. You hit on my biggest doubt about him as a stud in that I too thought that he was more of a plodder or he just grinds out his win. I wish I had his PP's to look at, but it seems that he just clicked off 23's and 24's all the way around the track. I wish I had one that would do that. One of the Hancock's made a statement that seems to hold fairly true when he said that plodders rarely make great sires. I don't know and I am just guessing, but I think I would try another plodder with great speed to him. Maybe even a miler that could run 23's and 24's for a mile.
