One last shot with No garantee season.

Any suggestions on how to increases the chances of getting a mare in foal. I have one more chance at a stallion that with a NG season I've purchased. I've tried twice this season with no success. It's an older stallion and my mare is not the most fertile mare but she has gotten pregnant on no more than 2 covers in the past. She is 15.

I've used this oxytocin protocol with great success breeding older mares that have had several foals.

I believe this is what New Bolton once suggested to me.

But if I'm remembering wrong . . . if your mare is anywhere near eastern PA, take her to New Bolton's reproduction specialists & see what they suggest.

Settle only gives you the money back for the Settle product - not for all of the other costs involved in sending a mare out to be covered. It is an injection with antibiotics specifically targeted at certain organisms in the uterus that are otherwise time consuming and hard to kill. While it is a very good product, it is not the be-all and end-all, and will not, by itself, get a mare in foal. I am assuming Blue Feather's mare has a clean uterine culture.

I use a 1cc shot of oxtocin 8hrs or more after the cover if the mare is older and has had multiple foals. It causes uterine contractions to help expel excess fluid from the uterus. I also use a shot of HCG before or after the cover to help the mare ovulate, provided she has not had other shots of HCG during the current breeding season - they can build up immunity to it and it becomes ineffective. But the Most Critical Part is to ensure that the follicle is large, soft, and within 24 hours of natural ovulation when we take the mare to the shed.

Agree SETTLE is not the end all. However, I covered a mare four time last year and then had the VET administer SETTLE and she concieved and ia about ready to foal.

You ar correct SETTLE will not cover transportation and mare board and other stuff. I guess they figure you would have that expense whether you used their product or not..

The stuff runs about $60 per injetion and they will refind up to $150 if your mare does not concieve using the stuff for two covers.. It's not an end all but at least they are backing up their claims with a money back guarantee on the product the Vet sells you..
